Maravillosa experiencia, muy buen conductor (Alex), atentos y amables en cada detalle.
Fue muy sencillo pagarles desde fuera del país.
Recomendadísimos!
I had a really great time at Maasai Mara with a really nice small group (4 persons in total). Our driver Alex was amazing! Very patient and helpful at any time. He had great knowledge on the wildlife, provided us with a lot further information and was able to answer all our questions. We got to see four of the big 5: lions, elephants, buffalos and a leopard. Besides we got to meet several kind of antelopes, one cheetah, hippos, giraffes, zebras, monkeys and others.
I would highly recommend this trip. I booked it quiet short notice but still everything went smoothly from pick-up from til drop-off at my accommodation. Thanks a lot for this amazing experience!
My wife and I were very intent on finding two things for our safari: An eco friendly company, and one that wouldn't hand us off to contractors that were not their employees. In finding Gracepatt, an eco friendly company (it's in the name) and excellent reviews, I thought we had found both. We found the price for the 3 Day Masai Mara tour to be considerably higher than other operators offering the same, but given that we thought it met our checklists, we were fine with this.
Unfortunately, it turned out neither of these things were accurate. We were picked up at our hotel by a gentleman who drove us to a large group of vans and dropped us with another gentleman. From there, it took an entire hour to gather the other 3 couples that would cram into this van before we could leave Nairobi. We had been handed off to a contractor and mixed with other couples who had similar expectations to our own, who were also incredibly disappointed.
We found lunch on the way to Masai Mara and back to Nairobi to be very poor. The Lechada Campground was basic with incredibly friendly staff, but quite awful food. We had spaghetti with hard boiled eggs one night. Yikes. Unfortunately, our driver opted to take us on an 11 hour game drive our second day in order to bypass a 2 hour game drive on the last day. 11 hours in a van is WAY too long, and all of us were quite bored and anxious by the end of it.
We found nothing about this trip to be eco friendly, and honestly, i'm not even sure why Gracepatt would offer this tour. The van itself was a gross polluter, pouring out black smoke constantly. All water was taken from small water bottles, which is terrible for the environment. In addition, water was supposed to be included for the whole trip, however, the driver only brought one case. 24 water bottles for 9 people over 3 days is not sufficient, and we were completely out by the end of the second day.
I don't think much of this tour is in the control of Gracepatt, so I can't blame them for a lot of the poor food, the uncomfortable van, or the impromptu changes in schedules. My biggest issue is that we paid a premium price expecting a better product, and received the same product that every other vendor is offering for a much lower price. Gracepatt seems like a company that offers better than this and has higher expectations for itself, so I hope it can address and change this offering because I think it is beneath what they appear to stand for.
If you're on a budget, just go with one of the cheaper operators. Otherwise, spend a little bit more money and buy yourself some comfort.
