At giraffe center you learn about the endangered giraffe species, Rothschild giraffe. To cap this tour, you will visit Kazuri Beads Women's Factory or the KOBE tough beads factory. Kazuri means small and beautiful in Swahili. The beads are exquisite and every bead is special and unique, as you will learn when you visit.

  • : As of 19th September 2023, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has mandated that all those visiting the SWT Elephant Nursery are required to pay park fees for Nairobi National Park. This is an entirely separate payment to our Nursery entry donation, and it must be paid via the eCitizen online platform. We apologise for any inconvenience this new arrangement may cause and would encourage you to access the Nairobi National Park for a game drive either before or after your visit to us as you will have already paid all relevant fees for the day. This beautiful jewel of a Park, uniquely situated close to our capital city, which can benefit enormously from your support.

Driver was punctual and I really enjoyed the visit to the giraffe center and wildlife center. The guide was kind and positive. You might want to check about the vehicle ahead of time, though. I was on my own and assumed I’d be riding in a safari vehicle with several others. Instead, I was in a small car on my own. This didn’t feel like the luxe experience I had anticipated and paid for. Fair enough, I got to the attractions. Once there, be sure to ask the guide to take pictures of you if you’d like some, as they weren’t too involved in the attraction experiences otherwise. I appreciated the alone time, but can see how others might want more guidance and time with their guide. I’d appreciate more courtesy and luxury experience to solo travelers.

Both venues were excellent. Getting up close and personal with the elephants and the giraffe was a great experience. Arrive early at the elephant orphanage to get a good position at ringside to better interact with them. Watch out though for wet, slippery places. We were there after some rain had fallen and a lady slipped and fell. Fortunately she was okay, but her clothes took on a decidedly muddy appearance. Watch out for head butting giraffes. It's tempting to try for a selfie while feeding them, but be careful about turning your back on them. Perhaps they're easily offended ... LOL
