We booked our tour via Trailfinders in the UK. Everything throughout the tour went to plan and our driver for the whole safari Marvin was brilliant!
We had a good safari vehicle for 7 people with the raising roof. We were given free water bottles and there was lots of water to help yourself to.
The lodges at Maasai Mara, Nakuru and Amboseli national parks were all Sopa lodges. They were rustic in style and all had a pool. The Nakuru lodge was amazing and significantly more modern that the others.
The drives in between were very long, and the roads ranged from modern tarmac to very rough. Be prepared to be bounced around! There was plenty of storage in the boot for baggage etc.
Weather was cool in the morning and early evenings, but hot in the day.
There would be toilet stops and tourist souvenirs on route. Ensure you haggle!
We booked a balloon ride before we left via Trailfinders but annoyingly the company we did it through (Fig tree camp) didn’t have our name on the list and made the experience before hand very frustrating. The balloon ride was amazing and very much recommended! Take your camera! We did get a video via the balloon pilot where we have a donation to buy a 7 minute video which he air dropped to us instantly which was great. Very impressed with the video.
The safari drives were long but fantastic! We saw 4 of the big 5 including the elusive black rhino. We saw all 5 of the ugly big 5!
We made friends with other people on the tour which really made the holiday for us! Another couple joined us as they made friends with us and would prefer to be with us. Their driver (Ali) made them and us feel uncomfortable which we did not like.
Overall, we had an amazing experience and were very happy with the tour!
Special thanks again to Marvin who made our holiday! He was such great company, a lot of fun and ensured we saw everything racing us around in his van so that we didn’t miss anything! Marvin was a crucial part of why our experience was so fantastic!
Thanks
