    After a brief introductory meeting with your local guide, head off to explore Nairobi! Walking through the streets of Nairobi and travelling by public transport provides plenty of opportunity to mingle with the locals as they go about their daily lives, making this a pretty solid local experience in our books. Your Nairobi walking tour will kick off with a stroll through Uhuru Park, right in the heart of the city, before wandering past the parliament buildings and the mausoleum of the first president of Kenya, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

We'll also give you the opportunity to visit the Kenya National Archives and various other sites within the city centre, based on your interests and our route. Another key local experience is food, so it's no surprise that this Nairobi city tour includes the opportunity to sample local cuisine at lunch at a local restaurant. This means covering shoulders and no short shorts. We recommend a mixture of loose, lightweight clothing and warm clothing for the evenings. Shorts should be knee-length. Singlets and tank tops are not suitable. Topless sun bathing is unacceptable.

After reading a lot of very positive reviews regarding this activity, my sister and I were excited to end out last day in Kenya exploring Nairobi with a walking tour! However, our experience left a lot to be desired (especially for the price). Our guide didn't speak much (which was pretty weird for a "tour"). He perfunctorily pointed out the Senate, Uhuru park (which we didn't go in - -we just kinda walked by), etc and we stopped at the National Archives. The National Archives was the highlight because a woman who worked there took the time to lead us through and explain the history of a lot of the items there, and she was great (but she was not actually part of the tour). Lunch was weird and quiet and awkward -- he barely said a word while we ate and was uninterested in giving any recommendations on what to eat.

Eye-opening walk around Nairobi with a knowledgeable guide. Best parts were definitely the lunch at the local restaurant and the museum.

Highly recommend this full day tour of Nairobi if you only have one day in the city! Visiting the Giraffe Centre and the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in the morning is advisable to beat the crowds. The Giraffe Centre is a must - feeding and kissing giraffes and learning about the conservation and education the centre provides is an amazing experience. The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is close by, and our guide Stephanie made sure we arrived early and secured us a perfect spot to view all the baby elephants. We had a solid hour learning about how the foundation saves orphaned baby elephants, and lots of opportunities to observe all the adorable baby elephants and how they are fed and looked after. Warning: you will definitely want to adopt one after! After a delicious traditional Kenyan lunch, we continued with Stephanie for a tour of Nairobi. We really enjoyed the views from the helicopter pad, and found the Archives and National Museum interesting. Stephanie was so friendly and knowledgeable, we were lucky to have her as our guide.
