On this exciting excursion you will enjoy the best of Sorrento, Positano, and the ruins of Pompeii or Herculaneum. You will be greeted at the Port of Naples by your private driver before making your way to the archaeological site of Pompeii, the ancient city whose ruins were preserved by the volcanic eruption that devastated it in 79AD. Here you will spend the duration of the morning, before continuing on to the picturesque coastal village of Sorrento for some sightseeing and lunch. The tour continues along the Amalfi coast to the winding, narrow streets and seaside cafes of Positano. The day will conclude here, after which you will be taken back to the Port of Naples.
In case you have already visited Pompeii, you can substitute it with Herculaneum. The site is less famous and smaller, but still harbors a wealth of archeological findings, which include stylish mosaics, ancient advertisements and well preserved homes.

Pompeii Archaeological Park, Pompeii, Italy If option selected you will visit this site instead of Ercolanum.
Pompeii is a unique historic site in that in an ironic twist of fate, the catastrophe that decimated the citizens of the unsuspecting town is also responsible for the near-perfect preservation of many things that would have otherwise been destroyed in all other such natural disasters.
You’ll see art, furniture, and other everyday items the citizens used – in addition to the macabre plaster forms that are accurate representations of the citizens as captured in their last living moments. 120 minutes
Parco Acheologico di Ercolano, Ercolano, Italy If option selected you will visit this site instead of Pompei.
Ercolano is a town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania of Southern Italy. It lies at the western foot of Mount Vesuvius, on the Bay of Naples, just southeast of the city of Naples. The medieval town of Resina was built on the volcanic material left by the eruption of Vesuvius (79 AD) that destroyed the ancient city of Herculaneum, from which the present name is derived. 120 minutes
Amalfi Coast, Italy Magically suspended between the blue sky and the iridescent colored sea, the Amalfi coast seems to be born from the palette of a painter who wanted to use the warmer color gradients for creating a landscape that enchants the visitor at the first shot, giving thrilling experience and such evocative view to doubt, for a moment, it is real. It is the land where the sweet scent of lemon blossoms harmonizes itself with the most aromatic one of the Mediterranean vegetation and the acrid aroma of saltiness; where the brilliant colors of the majolica domes, bougainvillea and carnations pergolas give an evident colored touch to the typical whitewashed houses, clinging to the last offshoots of the Lattari Mounts that plunge dramatically into the sea.
Sorrento Coast, Italy The Sorrento Coast is a jagged promontory that shores up the southern end of the Bay of Naples. This peninsula of hilly terrain ends abruptly at a cliff that plunges sheerly down to the Mediterranean sea. The entire coastline around Sorrento was a Greek colony during the period of Magna Grecia, the legendary site of Homer's sirens, before being conquered by the Romans who enjoyed the area as a summer playground. It has maintained a reputation as an exclusive resort destination ever since. It boasts a mild climate, gorgeous panoramas and citrus-scented air.
Sorrento, Sorrento, Italy Sorrento is a town overlooking the Bay of Naples in Southern Italy. A popular tourist destination due to its variety of small antique shops and location on the Amalfi Coast, it can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii as it is at the south-eastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town is most known for its small shops selling ceramics, lacework and marquetry (woodwork).
The Sorrentine Peninsula has views of Naples, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri. The Amalfi Drive, connecting Sorrento and Amalfi, is a narrow road that threads along the high cliffs above the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Ferries and hydrofoils connect the town to Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Ischia. Sorrento's sea cliffs and luxury hotels have attracted celebrities including Enrico Caruso and Luciano Pavarotti.
Limoncello, a digestif made from lemon rinds, alcohol, water and sugar, is produced in Sorrento. Other agricultural production includes citrus fruit, wine, nuts and olives.
60 minutes
Positano, Positano, Italy Dramatic, deluxe and more than a little dashing, Positano is the Amalfi Coast's front-cover splash, with vertiginous houses tumbling down to the sea in a cascade of sun-bleached peach, pink and terracotta. No less photo-worthy are its steep streets and steps, flanked by wisteria-draped hotels, smart restaurants and fashionable retailers.
A pearl of the Amalfi Coast, it presents itself as a cluster of pastel houses clinging to the steep ledges of the Lattari Mountains, which reflect themselves in the clear sea below, surrounded by an intense fragrance of lemon and bright and vivid colors of bougainvillea. A maze of alleys and steps with small shops displaying the typical products of local crafts, which, together with the undisputed beauty of the landscape, have contributed to make Positano and the Amalfi Coast famous world-wide. We refer to the fresh linen dresses in style "Positano fashion", the leather sandals, the colorful ceramics and the limoncello.

Daniel took us on an incredible journey to Positano, Sorrento and Pompeii. We genuinely appreciated his willingness to make the day special for our family. He was kind and his love for Italy, especially Sorrento, was contagious. Thanks for a wonderful day!

We used Rome in Limo in 2015 to tour Rome and once again, they did not disappoint! This time, we were greeted by David at the Port of Naples for a day-long adventure in Sorrento and Pompei. David was knowledgeable, entertaining and very interested in making sure our tour was everything we wanted. I can't thank Jany enough helping us book this tour and secure us a private guide for Pompeii. It was so worth having someone knowledgeable to help us make the most of our time there. I would recommend Rome in Limo to anyone in need of a private Italian tour!

Fantastic experience all around with Rome In Limo. We used them for a private tour in Rome while on a Med cruise in 2014. After such a wonderful experience back then, we knew they were who we wanted to book with while on our 2023 cruise. I booked a private tour of Positano, Sorrento, and Pompei. All communication was prompt, responsive, and courteous - thank you, Jany! Alex was our driver for the day and we was great! He lives locally and is so knowledgeable and passionate about the area. We met Alex right outside the cruise port in Naples and headed to Positano first to try and beat the crowds. He stopped a few times along the way at overlooks so we could get some great family photos. We had about an hour in Positano on our own. Next, we headed to Sorrento. We had about 1 1/2-2 hours on our own there and Alex gave us a great recommendation for a sit down lunch spot - fantastic pizza, pasta, and caprese! Our last stop was Pompei, where we had arranged through RIL to have a private guide, Rosemary, who took us through the ruins. I definitely recommend paying the extra $ to get the guide in Pompei so you know where to go and really get to learn about the history. Alex got us back to the ship with ample time before the all aboard call and he even gave us a bottle of limoncello. Great experience - highly recommend!
