  • Pompeii Archaeological Park, Pompeii, Italy
    Pompeii Ancient city at the foot of Vesuvius very flourishing in the Roman period. Its destruction occurred in 79 AD. following the famous eruption of the volcano that covered it with lapilli and ashes. The first archaeological explorations took place towards the middle of the 18th century, the excavations took a great impulse, but only from 1860 did they become systematic and rational. It can be calculated that up to now about three fifths of the ancient urban area have been brought to light. One of the most famous archaeological centers in the world, which offers a precious and complete picture of the topography and life in a Roman city. Currently Pompeii is an archaeological site protected by UNESCO, the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture, attracting about 3,000,000 visitors a year.

Giovanni gave us a tour to remember. It was a perfect day, the sun was shining- after the rain in Rome, it was so welcome. He also treated us to some "road trip singing" which was how i always pictured a drive on the Amalfi coast would "sound like"! MEmories for a lifetime!

This tour was the absolute highlight of our trip! Gio was so lively and had us all laughing and enjoying every minute. He left us with some italian music, sang songs to our daughter, drove slower when necessary as our daughter can get motion sick. We spent more time that we thought in pompeii it was just so beautiful so we had pizza in sorrento and walked around. All in all a beautiful day

Our foursome was really lucky to have tours of Ercolano and Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast arranged by Lovely Amalfi Tours. Our guides Giovanni and Lina are exceptional…so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. They greeted us very warmly and made us feel like family members. They truly love their work!
