    The ruins of the capital built by the parricidal King Kassapa I (477–95) lie on the steep slopes and at the summit of a granite peak standing some 180m high (the 'Lion's Rock', which dominates the jungle from all sides). A series of galleries and staircases emerging from the mouth of a gigantic lion constructed of bricks and plaster provide access to the site.

  • Dambulla Royal Cave Temple, Dambulla, Sri Lanka
    A sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries, this cave monastery, with its five sanctuaries, is the largest, best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. The Buddhist mural paintings (covering an area of 2,100 m2 ) are of particular importance, as are the 157 statues.

Dans l'ensemble journée plutôt sympa, mais je trouve que la description de la journée manque cruellement de détail, un DES petits bémols, par exemple, je n'étais pas au courant que je devais prendre le bateau pour aller manger, sachant que j'ai le mal de mer... Le guide que j'ai eu au Sigiriya n'est vraiment pas du tout validé, beaucoup trop pressé et ne respecte pas les besoins et envies des clients. Sinon le conducteur de la voiture était agrèable et cuisiner avec une locale c'est très sympa.

It was a excellent day trip to Sigiriya. We went to Dambulla cave temple, Sigiriya rock and Pidurangala temple. Pidurangala temple is not in our itinerary, but Mr. Asiri encourage us to climb it. We will recommend him to our friends.
