    It takes approximately 3 hours to get to Wilpattu National Park from Negombo. The park will open at 7:00 am. Once you get there you will be going on a 7 hour jeep safari. Before you go in you will have the chance to look through some of the informational leaflets at the entrance, and possibly even purchase a booklet on the wildlife - if you are interested. Wilpattu National Park was started in 1905 as a sanctuary for wildlife, and was upgraded into a National Park in 1938. With a size of 1,317 square kilometers, it’s one of the oldest and largest national parks in Sri Lanka. It hosts a variety of vegetation, over 30 species of mammals, and several tens of species of birds and reptiles.

Guida gentilissima, viaggio comodo e rilassante. Esperienza in jeep del safari positiva, guida del safari molto disponibile ma non parlava inglese e non mi ha spiegato nulla del parco. Sono state 3 ore di safari intenso ma bellissime: unico problema? Ovviamente essendo un parco enorme gli animali si spostano e non restano in posa, non ho visto orsi, non ho visto un solo elefante, non ho visto altro che bufali d'acqua, pavoni, un coccodrillo....peccato, ma ovviamente non è certo colpa delle guide. Lo consiglio comunque, perchè il parco è stupendo.
