Annapurna base camp trek is an amazing walk through diverse landscape and culture complete with rich mountain vistas, terraced fields, quaint Gurung villages and a wide variety of flora and fauna. Mt. Annapurna (8091m) of Nepal is the 10th highest mountain in the world and the journey to its base camp, which is at 4130m/13549ft height, is one of the most popular walks on earth. Moreover, we reach our destination via Mt. Machapuchhre (Fishtail) which is revered by the Nepalese for its unique beauty. It is a popular choice among diverse outdoor enthusiasts, from a solo female traveler to hikers travelling in groups to Nepal. Our Annapurna Base Camp Trek has a short, 11-day itinerary compared to most walks in this region leading up to the base camp. The particular route is designed for globe trotters who wish to hike to the base camp of the spectacular mountain but are restricted time-wise.

We will be accommodated in Yatri Suites & Spa or Hotel Moonlight or Similar in Kathmandu and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD 325. Himalayan Glacier will arrange rooms with attached washrooms; however, teahouses in some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevation but it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations.
During our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the tea-houses or from a lodge menu where we spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available while in Kathmandu and Pokhara. There will also be welcome and farewell dinners for guests.
You are likely to walk for 6-7 hours each day over steep hilly terrain on usually rough trails but no real extremes of weather. Moderate trails entail reaching up to 4,130 m with daily ascends of around 400-700m. You will also be facing high altitude air with low level of oxygen on some days and are therefore required to have a positive attitude and be physically fit. Previous hiking or camping experience is preferable.
Autumn (Sept. to Nov.) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views. If you wish to avoid crowds and enjoy some alone time with nature then taking this trip during winter (Dec., Jan. and Feb.) could also be an option. However, the temperature during winter could be harsh for most guests. Trekking in the Summer or Monsoon seasons (June to Aug.) will be affected by rain but the Summer trek could be a boon for a keen botanist.

Himalayan Glacier offered a PERFECT trek for me. Every element was super - from the greeting at the airport, the stay in Kathmandu, the pre-trek meeting, the flights to and from Pokhara, and ALL elements of the trek itself. HG organized all of the logistics, provided very friendly and skilled guide and porter, and made the experience both fun and rewarding. I always felt safe,
I have booked another trek with them for me an my wife in October 2023.
Thank you Himalayan Glacier for a wonderful trek!

After not being able to make our original trip of Everest base camp due to no flights to Lukla - we opted for Annapurna base camp and what a decision it was. The trek consisted of many many stairs and steps but it was an amazing experience. Having teamed up with another couple my son and I had a once in a lifetime opportunity- the scenery, the experience , the adventure and the local hospitality was fabulous.
The team from Himalayan Glacier changed everything for us from Everest to Annapurna - nothing was too much trouble or effort. I will be heading back next year and cannot wait to be in Nepal again - the people the place have won my heart !

I and my girlfriend Alex booked on a 10 day group trek to Annupurna Bascamp. I cannot find a single fault with our experience with the Himalayan Glacier company. We were looked after from start to finish by their friendly, fun and professional staff. The office team of Ashmita and Rayuna did a great job of keeping us briefed on the lead up to the trek and welcoming us, and were available throughout the trip in case any issues came up. Whilst we were the only ones booked on the tour as it was before the main season the company allowed us to go ahead, and were given a 'private tour' of the Annupurna area by our guide Homanth and friendly porter Krishna. Homnath did an incredible job throughout and is fairly well known by the locals as he has over 20 years experience in the area, he had all accommodation sorted and we had a comfortable bed and good food every night. He also was also invaluable in a tricky situation at Pokhara airport where it was closed for the afternoon due to weather and we had our departure flight early the next morning. We saw a number of people take the decision to get a taxi back to Kathmandu but he spent all afternoon at the desk trying to find out if the airport was reopening, it was touch and go and on two occasions he had a car booked to pick us up but cancelled again. I said we were better to get a taxi but he asked us to hold on and eventually the airport reopened and we were put on the last flight of the day. This saved an overnight journey on the road to Kathmandu that was blocked by a number of landslips and we got back in time for a leaving meal at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Nepal is a beautiful and friendly country and if I was backpacking I would consider doing the trek without a guide in a group of 3+. However if you are working to a limited timescale travelling around the country and the trek itself can lead to unpredictable delays and some confusion and for enjoying a holiday along with doing the trek I recommend that you save yourself the stress and go through a tour company. Everything is sorted on arrival: airport transfers, hotel bookings, connecting transfers, permits, guide and porter insurance, accommodation and food on the treks. In terms of which company to use I couldn’t recommend Himalayan Glacier company more!
