Everest Base Camp Trek

The glorious Himalayan vistas, the rivers, valleys and the people. The jolly banter with our guide Hupa Raj Tamang, whose knowledge of Nepal and the Himalayas was excellent. Our 2 sherpas, Dil and Thar Kumar, were also brilliant. We did the trek with Dream Heaven Adventure who were very professional and prompt from the outset, especially with regard to hotel bookings, transport and transfers. Suman, the CEO, was outstanding in terms of addressing all our needs and requirements, and we were all struck by his humility and willingness to assist. He treated us to a complementary Nepali dinner on our last night in Kathmandu which was delicious. I would caution future hikers about the following: the Pyramid hotel in Lobuche is by no means a luxury hotel, it is rather a dormitory with very basic and limited amenities. so dont be fooled by their advertising. The airport officials at Ramecchap may scam you in terms of charging you for overweight luggage, so ensure that you are present when your luggage is weighed. However, i must stress that this was in no way under the control of DHA.

My spouse and I are from Canada and we recently completed the Everest Base Camp trek in April 2023. We did a lot of research before our trek and understand how difficult it is to choose a company as there are so many out there. Based on positive Trip Advisor reviews, we chose Nepal Hiking Team. Every time we contacted Ganga, the owner of Nepal Hiking Team, he always provided exceptional service. He answered all of our questions in a prompt and professional manner. Somehow, through email, he gave us comfort that we would be in good hands and, we were. We were picked up at the airport by a guide and brought to the hotel where we met Ganga. The company provided a guided tour of Kathmandu before our trek, which was included in the price. This was very interesting. The guide, Kumar, was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. During the trek, we were supported by our trusted guide, Gokul. He was very friendly, kind and knowledgeable. He took very good care of us during the trek. He ensured we were happy and healthy each day. We felt comfortable with him and trusted his sound advice throughout the trek. Based on Gokul’s advice, we left early on the 8th day and reached Everest Base Camp, before large crowds arrived, which allowed us to enjoy the site and take pictures without being rushed. During the trek, we were also supported by our amazing porter who helped us carry some of our kit. While he did not speak English, he always greeted us with a warm Namaste. He joined us during our ascent to Base Camp and both he and our guide even offered to carry our day packs, which we kindly declined since they work hard enough. Ganga was extremely professional. He would personally come to the hotel to ensure we were happy and satisfied and that our needs we met. We were completely satisfied and highly recommend Nepal Hiking Tram as they exceeded our expectations. We hope this helps you in your decision on choosing a company for your experience in Nepal. This was my second trek with Nepal Hiking Team and I had a fantastic experience. As always, Ganga was super responsive and helped plan my trip to accommodate my relatively short stay in Nepal. Our guide Ram and assistant guide Chandru took care of all the logistics and ensured that we were comfortable and taken care of during the entire trek. Special shout out to Ram who was able to work through the chaos at Ramechchap airport and get us on flights to Lukla even when several other groups were stranded for days. All the tea houses we stayed in were comfortable and mostly 'nicer' than the others in town. On one of the more challenging days, returning from base camp, Ram saw me struggling and even offered to carry my backpack. When I fell sick on our way back at Pangboche and needed to get a heli out, Ram immediately worked with Ganga and the heli company and got me on a chopper within an hour. He stayed with me until I was safely on board and insisted that our assistant guide Chandru accompany me - who in turn carried my bags and ensured I was safely on a flight back to Kathmandu on the same day. As for our super human porters Sadan, Vishnu and Nirmal, I just don't know how they do it. They have my eternal gratitude for making the trek possible. I can't recommend Nepal Hiking Team enough. Go with them and you will not regret it.
