Jai Vilas Palace Jai Vilas Mahal was established in 1874 by Jayajirao Scindia, the Maharaja of Gwalior, and it is still the residence of his descendants. The palace has 400 rooms, out of which 40 rooms have been transformed into Jiwaji Rao Scindia Museum. The palace has 2 Belgian chandeliers at Durbar Hall, weighing 7 tonnes each, and it is believed that they are the most gigantic ones in the world. Jai Vilas is an Italianate structure which combines the Tuscan and Corinthian architectural modes. The Scindia Museum offers an unparalled glimpse into the rich culture and lifestyle of princely India.     I had booked 4 tickets for Gwalior when we planned when our family planned a trip to Gwalior and Orcha. While comparing air travel and train travel, I found that the later journey is more comfortable and saves plenty of time. We booked four tickets three months in advance on GATIMAN Express for our journey commencing on 5th February 2023.. This train leaves Hazrat Nizamuddin station at 08-10 in the morning and to catch the train we left our home at Ghaziabad, a place about 30km away at 06-30 AM. This train has two types of classes, AC Chair car, 2nd class and AC chair car, Executive class. The difference in fair in these two classes is quite high and we found second AC also to be quite comfortable. Food is also served in this train. The journey was very comfortable and at times the train was touching a speed of 150km per hour. There is only one halt for 5 minutes at Agra station and therefore, the total journey of about 300km was covered in 3 hours. As we had a package tour, our travel agent had sent a transport to take us to the hotel, MPT Residency that was also booked in advance. While returning we boarded the same train at Jhansi station after visiting Orcha about 100 km away and from Jhansi to Delhi the train just takes about four and half hours. This is the best train from Delhi for Gwalior and Jhansi, particularly for the tourists and timings are also well suited.

    Nicely put together, comfortable return transfers to the Railway stations and then safely picked up at Gwalior by the driver. Saw a lot in Gwalior and gwalior fort is truly called the pearl of all forts. Scindia Museum was also very rich in keeping Mind-blowing collections, I didn't miss any tour guide's service as everything was nicely arranged and I managed to pull this off without having a dedicated tour guide personnel. Even a lunch was provided at a good local restaurant. One advise: The operator is very prompt , so if you need to book any local tour guide then can tell him in advance, with a little supplement a tour guide can also be booked, however you will be well taken care off by the team and will always be monitored
