    Travel to the historic Destrehan Plantation on Louisiana's Old River Road for a guided tour. During your tour of Destrehan Plantation, professional guides will bring to life the stories of generations who lived on and worked this land. Your guides will share every detail of this mansion’s storied history with you. You’ll also hear tales of the lives of both its owners and slaves. They will also tell you about its wonderfully restored Greek Revival architecture.

    A short ride upriver through sugar cane fields brings you to Houmas House Plantation. Refreshing Mint Juleps are available for purchase on arrival. We had a fantastic time. Rene was our driver and tour guide. He had a great attitude. Kept us laughing and provided some great recommendations on local restaurants and bars. The food was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised there was so much to choose from and everything was delicious. The plantation tours were very educational. Rene went the extra mile and provide us guide tour of the outer buildings (which were self guided at the plantations) Would definitely recommend!

This tour is a must do for any NOLA visitor as Houmas House (and its incredible gardens) is the most spectacular plantation mansion in Louisiana and Destrehan is historically the most memorable and significant. The gourmet lunch in the elegant restaurant is outstanding. Most of all, Rene is one of the best guides that I have ever had on a day trip. He was very articulate, truly loves his beloved city and was eager to share his vast knowledge of the area's history, culture, music and food with our group. I tested him with a long list of restaurants but could not stump him as he had a excellent and honest review of every one of them! Thanks to Isabelle for organizing a tour to two of the best plantations that are off the beaten path. I will be taking this tour next year as long as Rene is the guide. Finally, I very much appreciated the guide's headset microphone so that his voice could be heard clearly on a speaker.

We had a wonderful day enjoying and learning about the history and culture of New Orleans. The two Plantations we visited were very different from each other both which proved interesting. The lunch was delicious and a real taste of the south. Our guide, Rene, made the day complete with his knowledge and guidance.
