First, the booking process: very easy, and it’s not their fault the Viator app is half useless. I was able to get my passes emailed, so not a huge issue. The pick-up process was also so easy. We did not have the ability to get direct hotel pickup because we were staying in the French Quarter, so we chose the closest hotel available and walked there to meet the bus. Legendary Tours calls you to let you know when they’re approaching, which I thought was amazing. Edward, our driver, was fantastic. Safe driving, funny and SO informative. I probably learned more from him about New Orleans than any other tour guide this week. As long as you’re paying attention, they take care of everything and make it an easy trip. Whitney Plantation was also a must-see. They go against the typical romanticized version of the antebellum South and show history as it was, for what it was, without any glazing over the horrors of slavery. I also appreciated that they did not exploit those who suffered by being overly brutal in descriptions unless they were firsthand accounts. I truly hope more plantations follow this example in the future.
