Hop aboard our luxury style vehicles to explore the iconic Whitney Plantation. On the morning of your tour, our driver will call you before their arrival and will also greet you when he or she arrives. While traveling out to the plantation he or she points out interesting facts along the way, listening to various types of New Orleans jazz music. Upon arrival at the plantation, they will check you in and give you information for the beginning to the end of the tour, such as what to explore after the tour and where to meet once the tour is over. The self guided tour is one hour fifteen minutes, we allow our guest time to explore the museum and use the restroom before heading back into the city. This tour goes out twice at 8:00 a.m. to approximately 1:30p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. this time includes tour and travel time.

    Within the boundaries of the “Habitation Haydel,” as the Whitney Plantation was originally known, the story of the Haydel family of German immigrants and the slaves that they held were intertwined. In 2014, the Whitney Plantation opened its doors to the public for the first time in its 262 year history as the only plantation museum in Louisiana with a focus on slavery. Through museum exhibits, memorial artwork, restored buildings and hundreds of first-person slave narratives, visitors to Whitney will gain a unique perspective on the lives of Louisiana’s enslaved people.

I knew what I was getting myself into when I told my husband I wanted to visit the Whitney Planation...but I was not expecting to bawl my eyes out throughout the tour. It was a self guided tour and they provided us with hand held devices to listen to at each point. It was tough to see some of these sites, but I encourage everyone to do it. I left informed, grateful, and heavy hearted. We booked the tour with hotel pickup, and Edward was an amazing driver and informant. He gave us history and details throughout our trip.

Really good tour, very informative, picked up on time and dropped back on time stated. Really informative driver, told us all about NOLA, life & events on route. The actual plantation is viewed from the slavery side, much better seeing the real side of it rather than the rich side of events....Hugely recommend
