Hop aboard our luxury style vehicles to explore the iconic Whitney Plantation. On the morning of your tour, our driver will call you before their arrival and will also greet you when he or she arrives. While traveling out to the plantation he or she points out interesting facts along the way, listening to various types of New Orleans jazz music. Upon arrival at the plantation, they will check you in and give you information for the beginning to the end of the tour, such as what to explore after the tour and where to meet once the tour is over. The self guided tour is one hour fifteen minutes, we allow our guest time to explore the museum and use the restroom before heading back into the city. This tour goes out twice at 8:00 a.m. to approximately 1:30p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. this time includes tour and travel time.

    Within the boundaries of the “Habitation Haydel,” as the Whitney Plantation was originally known, the story of the Haydel family of German immigrants and the slaves that they held were intertwined. In 2014, the Whitney Plantation opened its doors to the public for the first time in its 262 year history as the only plantation museum in Louisiana with a focus on slavery. Through museum exhibits, memorial artwork, restored buildings and hundreds of first-person slave narratives, visitors to Whitney will gain a unique perspective on the lives of Louisiana’s enslaved people.

The bus driver was informative and friendly. Pick up was smooth. The experience at the Whitney plantation itself was emotional and focused on the enslaved, not the plantation owners or the architecture. This is what makes the Whitney the only plantation that I’d visit.

We were never picked up the morning of the tour, we tried calling and texting but no response. Our hotel tried calling and left messages but still no response. We still have not heard from the tour company. Now we are trying to get a refund - so overall not happy!

I got so emotional while doing the self guided tour with audio. I have always wanted to come to see the whitney plantation. So much history and an amazing while informative experience. Thank you!!
