See platypus in their natural habitat. It is possible to see platypus at any time of the day, but our best chance is just after dawn. We pick you up from your Byron Bay accommodation and drive to the special platypus area. From there we start our 2 km easy walk along the creek looking for platypus. We usually see one or two platypus, and loads of birds. After watching the platypus have their breakfast we relax with ours – a picnic by the creek – before returning to Byron Bay. We can’t guarantee platypus sightings on this tour, but don’t worry. If we don’t see them we take you on another day, free. Your guide will lead you at a gentle pace, showing you what to look for and sharing insights about this much-loved and quirky Australian animal. We usually see one or two platypus, loads of birds and sometimes even koalas. After watching the platypus have their breakfast we relax with ours – a picnic by the creek – before returning to Byron Bay. We can’t guarantee platypus sightings on this tour, but don’t worry. Wendy was very helpful, keeping me up to date on the likelihood of the tour going ahead, due to numbers of bookings and the weather, and offering alternatives. Luckily it went ahead and we saw a platypus even though it was raining and the water more murky than usual. The picnic was good, with local ingredients too. Wendy is a hive of information it was a fascinating tour.

Great time seeing platypuses in the wild..a dream come true for my daughter! Wendy was an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable and friendly. She provides a worthwhile experience and I would highly recommend Vision Walk Eco Tours to anyone who wants to see Australian wildlife in their natural habitat.

I can highly recommend this tour! We’ve been keen on finding a platypus in the wild for ages, and we finally found one with this tour! Wendy was professional and warm, and had a really lovely mannerism about her. She was knowledgeable and thanks to her, we managed to follow one little guy for about 30 minutes - he was too cute! We then had a picnic breakfast afterwards and it was delish. So worth it! If you’ve been looking to see one of them out and about, you need to book this tour!
