This is a fascinating, multi-faceted tour combining history and architecture, plus entertaining stories of wealthy eccentrics thrown in while moving from place to place. Richard's knowledge and presentation were first-rate, and I his enjoyment of the subject matter was obvious. Yes, scaffolding will always obscure several facades but the information you learn beyond that is well-worth the tour. (Besides, you get to go into a few places you'd never know about otherwise.) You'll never look at the older buildings of NYC the same again.

Richard was an exceptional host and he was well-versed on all the sites we saw. We also appreciated his care in always making sure were comfortable and in the shade during some of our walks to keep us out of the hot summer sun.

Alexis was a fabulous guide and provided wonderful information about the homes, culture and the society of the gilded age! Unfortunately, several of the mansions could not be fully appreciated from the outside due to scaffolding/construction. This is not a reflection of Untapped or the tour guide, but you might find this helpful when considering this tour. Would I schedule this tour again—absolutely!
