Being a fan since 1984 and being the same age as hip hop, 50, I was so excited to get to do this tour on my recent trip to NYC. Last time I was there, about 15 years ago, I couldn't do a tour with Hush as I was flying home on the day it was available so this opportunity was already part of my itinery for my week long trip to the city.
Well what I can say other than AMAZING! The tour, the places visited, the guide (@theofficialrayza), the driver, the awesome b-boy (@eli.the.elite) and my fellow tour attendees ALL made this one of the greatest trips of my life. If history was this good in school I'd have a Masters by now! Rayza's knowledge and personality really made this day and, even after 39 years of my life being a hip hop fan, I still learnt things I didn't know.
We visited areas which, dare I say, I wouldn't feel safe on my own but not once did I feel in danger or had a thing to worry about. Visiting places like Sedgewick Avenue (the birthplace of hip hop, despite what Queens says!), Apollo Theatre, the Graffiti Hall of Fame in Harlem, Malcolm X Boulevard and the Big L mural to name just a brief few of the many stops just blew my mind. Not being a basketball fan I didn't know much about Rucker Park that we visited and walked on the ground but since coming home I have looked it up and boy that's impressive too,
If you do just one tour in NYC then do a tour with Hush as if all are like the Birthplace of Hip Hop tour that I did you will have memories for life. You don't have to be a hip hop fan but it sure hugely adds to the experience if you are and don't forget your camera!
Final tip, book directly on their website rather than third party sites as it's easy to do and supports this brilliant company even more
