    Chelsea Market and the High Line are two of NYC's best attractions! This food and history tour features incredible insights and stories as well as some delicious food and fantastic NYC views. Plus, our tour guides are truly entertaining and it's enough food for lunch! Did you know that although the area was originally residential, markets have existed in the district since the 1840s. People moved into tenements in the Meatpacking District in the 1820s to escape epidemics in what was then the main part of New York. In 1900, 250 slaughterhouses and packing plants filled the area; and by the 1930s, those houses produced the nation’s 3rd-largest volume of dressed meats. Five meatpacking companies still operate in the district. Boutiques and bars are more common than rump roasts these days, and the neighborhood continues to evolve almost daily. This tour was so much fun. We loved our tour guide Lara. She was a bundle of energy and taught us a lot about Chelsea Market and the Highline. The food tasting was delicious!!! From tacos to doughnuts, then the hot dogs and pasteis de nata, then ice tea and dumplings. I will definitely go back to Chelsea Market and explore more. The highline walk was a perfect way to end our time and Lara was very helpful in helping us decide what to see next!!!

Small group with well-informed local guide, Justin. Interesting historical information about the 2 food markets and the area. A range of savoury and sweet items sampled during the tour. All delicious. The walk along the hi-line was informative and a wonderful repurposing of derelict infrastructure. Thoroughly recommend the experience.

An absolutely brilliant tour. Sergio is the perfect tour guide, knowledgeable, friendly and easygoing. I would give this tour 11/10 if that was possible. A perfect mix of indoor tasting and outdoor sightseeing.
