Your 90 minute narrated walking tour will give you the chance to *Learn about the Erie Canal and the construction of the engineering marvel known as the Flight of Five Locks. *Hear about the men who labored to lock through over 1,000 boats a year. *Consider what life was like in the 1800's in the locks district. *Marvel at the life-size bronze sculptures of our 19th Century Lockport Lock Tenders. *Be part of a team to open the 5 ton lock gates! Tours are offered weekdays, Monday through Friday and start at 11 am. Social distancing standards will be adhered to and face masks will be provided. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Our team of volunteer docents is looking forward to meeting you.

This tour was an unexpected gem! We went to the Lockport Canal Museum which was great, and met Gary & Dave outside the museum waiting to give this tour. Both were very informed & were able to answer all of our questions. This tour brought the Erie Canal to life! I highly recommend this tour! We absolutely loved it!

Enjoyed a fascinating tour of the Flight of Five Locks and Lock Tenders Tribute sculpture. Tour guides did an excellent job! They provided a lively and informative presentation of the history of the Erie Canal and it's significance to Lockport. The tour took about 90 minutes including a stop at the museum at the base of the last lock. We really enjoyed operating the old wooden locks at the end of our tour. Take the time to check this one out it was well worth the price of admission.

09/13/2021 We had a large group on tour with Jackie and Paula providing the information. Great job.. Great stories and information about the Erie Canal. The tour is about an hour and a half. Well worth your time. Make sure you can climb some steps. The highlight of the tour is closing the locks. They allowed each one of group members to participate. A must see tour if you have any interest in the history of the Erie Canal. Easy parking around the site.
