My husband and I completely enjoyed our tour with Jeff. He made our first visit to the Met so much more meaningful than had we tried to go on our own. Likewise our tour of Central Park gave us a deeper appreciation of the history of the park and what it means to the city. Jeff also made sure that we were comfortable throughout the tour.

Booked this tour for myself and 2 kids (17/23). Have toured the Met by myself before and it’s completely overwhelming. Chose this tour as a good way to see some interesting stuff, as well as get a better feel for what to come back and enjoy. Included a couple hours in the park, which was great to be able to learn about the origin story. Matt was a great guide for our family. Group was 7 people for the Met portion, but the other group was only signed up for the Met portion, so we ended up with a private CP tour. It’s a little more expensive to do semi private, but you can move so much more quickly with fewer. Will do other Babylon tours next time we visit the city. Thank Matt! Central Park part was the kids favorite!

A day at the Largest Museum in the World- ‘THE MET’
Being the largest museum of the United States, it is next to impossible to cover the entire museum in a day. The permanent collection of the museum contains over two million pieces, cut up into seventeen curatorial departments. The permanent collection includes works of art from classical antiquity and ancient Egypt paintings and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American and modern art.The Interactive map of THE MET, provides an initial view of the collection as it can be experienced in the physical museum. This map is a must when visiting the museum for an enriching experience.
Since I had been planning this tour for a long time, I had my itinerary ready beforehand. Here are the most admired galleries of THE MET that I visited on my tour:
Greek and Roman Art
The Met’s Greek and Roman collection is very vast. It took me nearly 2 hours to go through the entire display. The gallery has more than 17000 objects. The magnificently detailed sculptures of the Greek and Roman empires are jaw dropping. We weren't allowed to take any videos but we did click many pictures with the sculptures of the Gallery.
Egyptian Art
I personally love Egyptian history. I spent most of my time here during the tour. Every article contained in the gallery had a very unique story to tell. Few of the oldest articles of the Met are a part of the Egyptian collection. The most popular centrepiece of the Egyptian collection is ‘Temple of Dendur’. The Temple was dismantled by the Egyptian government and was given to the United States in 1965. This Temple was the highlight of the entire gallery. Many articles from the gallery were also shown in movies and it was intriguing to identify them.
Islamic Art
The Met has the world’s largest collection of Islamic Art. A significant number of the objects of Islamic collection were created for religious use or decorative elements in mosques. Islamic Department’s miniature paintings from Iran and Mughal India are highlights of the collection. I liked how the calligraphy of both religious and secular is well represented in the spectacular collection.
These were the major Art Galleries that I visited and spent most of my time. Apart from these I also visited the American Wing, Cantor Roof Garden and The Met Store. The experience was beyond my expectations. I would definitely come back to explore the rest of the MET. My advice to people would be to spend the entire day at The Met, visiting The Met in a rush would only ruin the experience. This was my experience of the glorious journey to ‘The Past’.
