A long journey to and from NYC, well worth it although the Maid of The Mist stopped operating just as we reached the embarking area. Roberto and Pete were friendly, knowledgeable and professional so kudos to them for persevering when the bus had a few issues on the return journey. Glad we visited.

Overall is good.. however were disappointed as we paid $30 per person (we are a group of 5 people) to the tour guide on the bus purchasing maid of the mist tickets. Then as we arrived. They has stopped operating the ferry so we couldn’t enjoy the maid of the mist experience. And the staff said that we can get refund. We only get $20 per person refunds as the tour guide collected our money in cash but the tour guide made the payment in credit card at the counter.

We did think twice about booking this trip on the basis it’s a very long day and you spend the majority of the time on the coach, however we really wanted to see the falls so we went ahead. We meet up for the 4am start and were soon on our way, regrettably a couple of hours into the trip our coach was hit by another car and it was only due to the excellent skills of our driver that we avoided being in a major accident. Instead we had the much lesser issue of being parked up for 90 minutes whilst the police completed their investigation and paperwork. We eventually arrived at the falls around 1pm, and having been advised by the rep everything would be closed, including the toilets, we were very pleasantly surprised to find everything had reopened since her last visit. Our tour of the falls lasted around 3 hours 15 mins and was truly excellent and really well organised by our rep. We would have like a little longer to have a proper look in the shops and a meal, however given the events of the morning we were super lucky to have had the time we did. Returning to the coach we eventually arrived back in New York around midnight. We were though dismayed to listen to our rep’s speech about the importance of tipping, and the sight of her stood at the front of the coach counting the tips as people gave them to her when leaving the coach was disappointing, as a bit of discretion was certainly missing. So overall, it was a very long day, we did have a few issues, but the time at the falls was amazing and made everything else well worthwhile!!
