Fiordland Heli-hike

Ich hatte einen sehr eindrucksvollen Rundflug von 30 min über das Gebiet von Te Anau gehabt. Pilot Paul hat viel Information über Gebiet und Land während des Fluges gegeben. Er ist absolut professionell. Eine kurze Landung auf dem Mauri Berg hat Zeit gegeben, in Ruhe die wunderschöne Seenlandschaft zu genießen. Danke Paul.

We had a wonderful experience on the helicopter tour of the Fiordlands - it was a true highlight of our time in New Zealand. We were a couple (2 adults) and were joined by another couple in the helicopter. The pilot was really knowledgable and friendly and gave a great history of the area and overview of what we were seeing. It was a fantastic way to get a sense of the expanse of the fiordlands and see them from above (the pilot pointed out many of the 'famous' fiords including Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound and others). Our highlights included the stops at the alpine lakes, all only accessible by flight (including one that's in a famous scene in one of the Mission Impossible films). The views were stunning and flying in/out was thrilling. It was our first time in a helicopter as well, so while we were nervous at first, we quickly became comfortable thanks to the pilot's professionalism. We love to hike so this was the perfect mix of activities: flying over the fiordlands and getting a sense of the landscape and then landing at Luxmore Hut to hike part of the Kepler Track. We hiked up to the summit first (~2 hours) before hiking back down and meeting the water taxi to get back into town. We loved the summit hike, it was very beautiful and there are stunning views of the area and the mountains surrounding Te Anau. It's 100% worth it. After doing the summit, it was a bit of a long way down so I'd recommend bringing water/snacks. The hut does have restroom facilities if needed. Highly recommend this as a very worth-while experience and great company to do it with.

A fantastic adventure to enjoy part of the Kepler Track from Luxmore Hut, up to Mr Luxmore & down to the beach Lake Te Anau. Its a day of Helicopters, hikes, and boats. Great communication prior to the trip on how to prepare, we had to be nimble on the day of the Heli-hike due to some fog over the lake but easily fixed by the the Southern Lakes Heli's Team - they drove us to a nearby base for departure rather than lakeside. An awesome journey above the fog to My Maury - quick stop to check out the sensational views & some pics & then we headed to Luxmore hut. From the hut you hike to Mt Luxmore - about 2.5 hrs return, a short 20-30 min pit stop (lucky to encounter a cheeky Kea) back at the hut then a 2.5 hrs hike back through beautiful beech forest to the lake & a waiting water taxi. There is more to Te Anau then Milford Sound - don't get me wrong - Milford is pretty stunning, (my favourite sound is Doubtful) but this adventure gets you into quieter, more untouched parts of the country that is simply unique to other areas of NZ.
