Head out on a 25 minute shuttle from Queenstown to Arrowtown. There's the opportunity to explore Arrowtown and grab a coffee before starting your ride. The route follows the stunning Arrow River Trail, crossing the river via a few spectacular bridges. From there, you'll join the Twin Rivers Trail, which follows the the Kawarau and Shotover rivers to the shores of Lake Whakatipu, with a few big climbs on this section. The ride finishes back at Around The Basin's shop in central Queenstown (3 Searle Lane). This is an awesome adventure day, and a great way to explore the purpose-built biking trails. A detailed map and full navigation is given at the start of your ride. The minimum riding distance is 35 km (21 miles) with a few decent hills. This ride is only for those who are confident and capable riders, with a good level of fitness. E-bike upgrades are also recommended.     The bike ride starts by following the Arrow River Trail downstream to the Morven Ferry, crossing the river via a few spectacular bridges.

    The ride then joins the Twin Rivers Trail, which follows the Kawarau and Shotover rivers to the shores of Lake Whakatipu. Expect to see amazing alpine views of The Remarkables mountain range as you climb and descend throughout this section.

    The Twin River crosses over the historic Lower Shotover Bridge. You'll get fantastic views of both Coronet Peak and The Remarkables ski areas.
  • Frankton, Frankton, New Zealand
    The bike trail passes a few cafés and even a brewery near the Frankton Marina. Why not stop-off for a well earned treat?

Well organized and trail easy to follow. Meet at shop at 3 Searle Lane. Staff were brilliant and provided a great briefing and route map. Mini bus trip to Arrowtown was pleasant with Shane our driver providing some great local tips. After given your helmet and bike, stop at Arrowtown Bakery for morning tea. The track is fairly easy with a couple of steep sections. Scenery is amazing. Take water and snacks. We did the track in 3.5hrs with teenage kids. Electric bikes are available. Great day for all ages.

This was hands down the best thing we did in Queenstown! We got electric bikes which were so much fun, the terrain was exciting and views were stunning. We even added on a detour which made the ride total 47kms and felt fine at the end of the day! Would recommend stopping at Altitude brewery near the end of the ride for a beer and a visit to the food truck. 10/10 would recommend!

We all had a great day of riding! We were driven from Queenstown to Arrowtown where we collected our E-bikes and received all the information we needed for our trip back to Queenstown. Most of our group had never biked this far/long before so were apprehensive before we started, but that quickly changed as we made our way through the fantastic scenery! The trail is clearly signposted so no chance of getting lost and staff beforehand were very informative as well! This first ride has given me inspiration to do more cycling in New Zealand if/when I get the opportunity!! Definitely recommend Around the Basin!!
