See the land where The Lord of the Rings trilogy were filmed. After a complimentary hotel pickup, you will arrive and meet your helicopter pilot, who was the actual film pilot for the movies. You will fly along the Shotover River, over the mountain range from the opening scene of The Two Towers on the way to landing on a glacier alongside the Misty Mountains and get a sense of what it might be like to cross The Redhorn Pass. You will head across to Glenorchy via the Dart Valley and Mt Earnslaw to see the natural features you may better recognize as Isengard, Amon Hen and Lothlorien. This 70 min excursion will conclude with a drive back to your hotel in Queensland.

We had an unbelievable trip with Michael as the pilot/guide. Though weather didn't permit a Glacier landing, the vistas at the landing spots, the spectacular nature around Queenstown that we got a closeup birds-eye view it of more than made up for that. Informative background commentary of the different movie locations, spectacular scenery and exiting flying really make the the experience something special. Thanks again for a great ride!

Phenomenal trip! 2 x landings with 1 on a glacier. Seeing the area from the air and up close is amazing with a very different view from anywhere else. Cody was amazing with positioning the helicopter exactly to capture the best view. Highly recommend this trip with this company (Southern Glacier Lakes Helicopters).

What an experience with a hefty price tag Not 5 star because of following It’s a stretch of the imagination really to say lord of the rings tour! Yes you do see some of the locations but … They give you a booklet per couple to read as you are boarding I’m squashed In the front with some lady trying not to move and husband is sat in the back with book! We sat In reception for 15 mins before boarding maybe hand out a book each to look at before as once your on you want to look at sights not read a book. Would have been nice to have option to take book away Pilot found some deer on mountain top circled them poor deers panicked I felt the welfare of the dear wasn’t taken into account! However positives did 2 landing first one on a ridge don’t ask me how the helicopter didn’t fall off! 2 nd landing on snow was told it’s not glacier it’s melting snow. Very surreal experience getting out so peaceful and humbling just stupidly had none waterproof trainers on so soggy feet oops. Pilot took lots of photos at both landings 4 of us on trip so everyone had good views. Have to say the seat in front is tiny originally I was on outside but the handle dug in my leg so there was no way I could sit there so swapped to inside and other lady fitted fine but think it helped I sat right over to give her room not what happened when I was on Outside
