Newcastle Upon Tyne is originally, a Roman city which later featured heavily in wars with Scotland. Its many fine buildings largely a legacy of the Industrial Revolution and its famed coal and shipbuilding industries. Known around its world for its beer and bridges amongst other things, Newcastle is a city like no other and we will get to see both the most amazing urban train view in Britain as well as a street voted Britains most beautiful (not Edinburgh or Bath)! See the famous quayside and markets, get a taste of the friendliest city in Britain and voted the second most partying city in the world after Rio (take that London, Las Vegas and Monaco). We will surely find a great place to eat or drink in this city with a well renowned reputation for for its pubs before we return back to London. If time allows we can customise this tour and visit The Angel of the North. Please note the typical train journey time each way is around 3 hours.

we where on a coach holiday which included some time to explore Newcastle we where taken to a spot to take pictures of all the bridges which was nice and then dropped off to explore on our own

Newcastle is a wonderful city with fabulous buildings & heritage. We found it to be totally filthy and very rough. Even in the tourist areas, the Quayside, near St Nicholas cathedral, near the castle & the galleries & theatres, the filth & rubbish was an absolute disgrace. The dirtiest city that I have ever visited. The homelessness was terribly depressing & the drunks scared my children. Two men actually fighting violently in the middle of the street. The iconic low level bridge was covered in graphite with no attempt to clean it. St Nicholas was an oasis of peace, with a cool crypt & the crown is a nice, friendly historical & unspoiled heritage pub that sells local Fentimans quality soft drinks.

A vibrant city many new style bars and restaurants Hilly though. Lovely to stay in with great people . Newcastle, love it
