This is the real deal for experiencing this part of the country's beauty, people, and food.
A short ride to a wooden boat where we cruised up the beautiful and interesting Cai River to connect with a tri-wheel taxi (more like open-air cart which was fun) stopping to see birds of all types and then to the Loc Tho pagoda and neighboring school for disadvantaged children who seem happy and well cared for. Then to see sedge weaving with beautiful mats of different sizes (available for purchase at very reasonable prices). Then on to lunch at Chopsticks on the river for wonderful chicken, mackerel, shrimp and mixed dishes where we enjoyed talking with the owner. Then return river trip and visit to the Hindu Ponagar temple, and then tea back in town.
All along the way Pham gave interesting summaries and insights into what we were seeing.
This is the real deal, off the beaten path, where you also feel totally comfortable with Pham as guide.
