This was the most exciting Segway tour I have done! Tours are available in several different languages, and advance reservations are recommended. They offer a variety of tours, and I chose the Nice Grand Tour - 2 hour. My tour guide Nicolas was amazing and informative. The tour began with a brief Segway instruction session where we went out to the Promenade des Anglais to practiced basic Segway riding skills, like stopping and turning. Previous Segway experience was not required, but very helpful.
After the learning session, we rode down the Promenade and into Marché Aux Fleurs (which is Nice's famous outdoor flower market). We then rode through the narrow streets of Old Town, zig-zagging around pedestrians and tight corners. All along the way, Nicolas told us about the history and culture of the area, as well as some quirky details. Then we rode along Quai Rauba Capeu to see the "#I Love NICE" sign and the World War II monument.
Finally, we glided into Castle Hill Park where we rode up to the very top of the park. Nicolas took us to a scenic overlook spot on each side of the hill, so we could see the very best of Nice from above. At the scenic overlook spots, we got off the Segway to look around and take photos. The crowded and narrow streets of Old Town were sharply contrasted with the serenity and open spaces of the park. All the while, Nicolas answered all our questions and offered to take photos of us. He was so kind and so cheerful. I loved his energy and humor. The whole tour took just over 2 hours and hit the big highlights of the city. I definitely recommend!!!
