We have been cruising to the iconic Maori Rock Carvings since 1982. This is a Summer time activity offering relaxation, fun and adventure on the water, the Kiwi way. Get right up close to this culturally significant 46 foot (14m) high rock art. Excellent, amusing and current commentary on Lake Taupo, the volcanoes and the carvings.

    Cruise out to the Maori rock carvings on our modern all weather boat. Learn about the culture, history and sustainability of the region. View up close the 14 metre high face of Ngatoroirangi and smaller carvings on the waterline. Marvel at the crystal clear water, green bushline and mighty volcanic mountains. We have 4 different seating areas to enjoy the views from. Bow, cabin, cockpit or climb up to the flybridge for elevated views. If there is time watch a trout fishing demonstration. We encourage swimming Summer or Winter!

  • What to Bring: Dress casual, comfortable and warm (layered clothes work best), windproof/showerproof jacket, swimwear and towel (during summer), sunglasses, hat and don’t forget your camera!
  • Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative boat, date or full refund.
  • Please note: You are welcome to bring your own prepared food and beverages. NZ law requires adults to be R18 and over to drink alcohol.
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

The boat was great. It was very relaxing to be sailed by the crew. We really enjoyed Ruby's input and my girls had some fun with her. The girls were a little scared of the boat under sail, particularly when it leaned into the wind, but they've not sailed before and it was a great introduction. We all enjoyed jumping off for a swim and the commentary along the way explaining the Maori rock Carvings was great.

A relaxed trip to see the carvings with great commentary. The real bonus is that this tour takes a smaller group than other companies take, which makes the transit more comfortable and provides a much more intimate tour experience as well as a better photo taking opportunity. My husband and I went on this cruise and absolutely loved it. I'm very glad we chose this company over the others we considered.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip on LakeTaupo to see the Maori carvings. We were lucky to have a clear sunny day with virtually no wind, but it was an experience to have the sails up for the trip. Our host was very knowledgeable, friendly and had a host of humerous stories to tell which made the trip even more enjoyable
