Our electric yacht is 100% sustainable, emissions and noise free, making it climate safe, and Lake Taupo’s best sailing experience. We have been sailing to the iconic Maori Rock Carvings since 1982! This all-year-round activity offers relaxation, fun and adventure on the water, the Kiwi way. Get right up close to this culturally significant 46 foot (14m) high rock art. Excellent, amusing and current commentary on lake, the volcanics and the carvings. Free refreshments including tea, coffee, hot chocolate and mulled wine (winter only). We are licenced but you are welcome to bring your own. BYO Swimming is encouraged. Sail Barbary is the only boat in Taupo rated 'Qualmark Gold' by Tourism NZ under the 'sustainable business' category.

My family of 4 (a 5 and a 7 year old) were lucky enough to be gifted this tour and it was AMAZING! The team were so knowledgeable and friendly- and really accommodating when we thought the traffic from down South might thwart us arriving on time. We were made so welcome, and our skipper was incredible, telling us some really fascinating things about the area, the ecosystems of the lake, and ofcourse the carvings. He even taught our tamariki so much about the boat, being a skipper, and let them steer! Would definitely go again- and bring our togs next time!

My partner and I did this eco tour at the 2pm time. We had a great time with Chris, who was extremely knowledgeable, funny and made the experience really enjoyable! The rock carvings were amazing and Chris knew so much about them. We were able to take food and drinks onto the boat too which was great. We also found it to be very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend !
