    The tour begins with a short film and introduction inside the Visitor Centre's interactive exhibition. Afterwards, the guide leads the group on an exciting walk through the sanctuary in search of wildlife.

  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
  • Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately
  • Wear sturdy footwear, bring extra layers of clothing and a waterproof jacket. Torches (flashlights) are supplied

  • Not recommended for travelers with limited mobility, or difficulty walking for 2 hours in low-light conditions

Went with my mum and girlfriend on the Night Walk and had an amazing time! The guide was extremely kind and was very informative. We all learnt a lot and had an overall fun and unique experience! While we were sad we didn't see a kiwi, we understand that they were busy living their best life away from the path haha! It was so amazing to hear their calls in person, however, and to be able to hear the difference between the male and female calls! Overall amazing and we 100% would go again

For his birthday we took our son on this trip. It was cold, starry and dark but the quality of the information and excellent. It started with an introduction at the auditorium, then a small video and a briefing. We were a group of 12 and that was a good amount of people, everyone could hear because we had earsets and everyone could see because we were given red-light torches. We walked along tracks and through the bush. At the beginning it was lighter so we got to see many birds heading to roost, then we saw some insects and looked for the tuatara. When it got dark we saw a kiwi snuffling around in the bush looking for worms and insects. Later on we saw another one wandering along the track and it passed very close to us and was not bothered by our presence. It was an exceptional experience and well worth the money. We finished up having a cup of kawakawa tea.

È stata un'esperienza meravigliosa lo consiglio a tutti, è assolutamente un must. Il tour consiste in due ore di camminata al buio completo con sole delle piccole torce date in dotazione dall'organizzazione. La guida era molto appassionata e preparata ed abbiamo potuto vedere ben 4 kiwi. Ma non di sfuggita perché questi animaletti sono stati davanti a noi per noi per diversi minuti a zampettare intenti a cibarsi. Osservarli nel loro habitat naturale, uscire dalla foresta è stato incredibilmente emozionante.
