Angie texted us the night before asking if we could leave at 0620 due to the Public and Holiday and not wanting to get caught in traffic going to the Wall or coming back. She met us promptly in the hotel lobby the day of the tour. She spoke very good English and told us about sights along the way. The driver, Mr. Lee was quiet but he offered us some of his dumplings since hotel breakfast wasn’t available at the time. The black sedan was clean and comfortable. He also made sure we had water once we arrived at the wall.
Once we arrived, Angie purchased our tickets for the chair lift and the toboggan. The chair lift was sort of scary but not bad. She took pictures for us, told us the best locations to take the pictures and which setting to use on our phone. She let us roam about by ourselves for 2 hours. During that time we were able to hike to tower 16. There were minimal people on the Wall at that time. But by the time we reached Tower 14, it was a bit crowded. So we were thankful that Angie suggested the early start time.
We rode the toboggan down the Wall which as very fun. I just wish we could’ve went faster but there was an older lady in front of us who seemed a bit apprehensive.
After we left the Wall we ate at a restaurant that was so serene and had a great view of the Wall. We let Angie make the food selections and boy were they great! We had Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian beef, green beans, and then a dish with eggs and something else. I hadn’t really eaten since I’d been to China because I couldn’t find any food that I liked or I didn’t know which food to try.
Angie went above and beyond by asking what else had we done since we’d been in China and made suggestions on how to spend the following days as well as places to eat.
I will definitely use Angie again the next time I visit China. She made our trip memorable and remarkable.
