Join your private guide on this 9 hour fun trekking day at Gubeikou Great Wall.  Drive 120 kilometers out of downtown Beijing where you can witness the vicissitude of history of this most intact and well preserved original section of the wall.  Along the way, you will see some bullet holes and damages on the Wall from the flames of war in the past. Climb on the ridges of the Wall, as it's up and down along the hill like a huge dragon.

We pick up from your hotel inside of 5th ring road in Beijing.

  • The Great Wall of Gubeikou, Beijing, China
    Put on your hiking outfit and set off at 8:00am. After a 2-hour, 120 kilometer drive from downtown Beijing, you will reach the Gubeikou Great Wall. Access a local village and then onto the wall from the South Heavenly Gate. Climb and continue your steps and you will find yourself surrounded by beautiful scenery. Keep going up to General Tower, Watchtower and you will finally reach the highest point where you will see the amazing Jinshanling Great Wall in the east and Crouching Tiger Mountain towards west direction.  Stop and make a U turn to the 24 Eye Tower. The military restriction zone is ahead and you will continue for another 40 minutes of walking. Now, you have completed the happy journey and it's time for tasty lunch! After your tour is finished, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Beijing.

James is always such a pleasant tour guide to have with us! He knows the routes, knows the history and has many local contacts to make the whole experience much easier and smoother. He is very generous with his time and knowledge. He's also flexible with people's varying fitness levels whilst keeping us on track and on schedule. I have enjoyed all my hikes with James! Kassy (office contact), James (tour guide), and David (driver) were all extremely attentive and responsive to our every need. Communication by text and email were flawless. James called us at our hotel the evening before our trek, just to make sure. We had a bit of food (water/ice) poisoning the day before, so we were extra needy trekkers, but James and the driver handled it all very well. True professionals! This section of the Great Wall was quite rustic (not renovated), but this gave us the feeling of a true backpacking, wilderness experience. The scenery is very picturesque. Some of the guard towers provided shade, which we appreciated on a hot day. No insects, or other hazards, to speak of. The provided lunch was nearby, and shortly after the trek. The restaurant staff were very nice, and sympathetic to our upset stomachs. They went out of their way to get us exactly what we felt like eating, and we were able to take away a doggie bag. Thanks to all... an unforgettable experience!
