Sit back and relax as you travel into the amazing Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Your Driver Guide will provide expert commentary while you enjoy the amazing surroundings and the sight of Uluru in the distance. After sunse you will transfer to the barbecue site. The site is within the Uluru National Park set amongst red sand dunes and desert oak trees providing a peaceful desert setting. The site is located far enough from the resort lights to provide you a clear view of the stars in the southern sky (weather permitting). Once at the site, you will enjoy a variety of Australian meats and salads, accompanied by wine, beer or orange juice (menus are subject to change). After dinner, tea, coffee and dessert will be served. Your guide will conduct a tour of the night sky, describing and pointing out some of the visible constellations with the assistance of a high beam spotlight (weather permitting). The guide will also explain some Aboriginal stories that relate to the stars.

A nice tour of uluru at sunset. Definitely get the barbecue dinner option. Was very nice under the stars. A must do on this tour.

We booked our tickets to this experience thinking we were paying approx $450 AUD - a BBQ for 3 people - this felt a little high but doable. Instead we were charged over $700 AUD. A complete shock to the system. The experience promised champagne and also grilled prawns on the menu - neither of which were available on the night. If you do book an experience I recommend that you seek to book directly with AAT Tours and not Viator. Also the sunset drinks is a pleasant enough experience. The BBQ experience is completely over-rated and really expensive at $700 AUD.

We were picked up at our hotel at the Ayers Rock Resort. Taken to the sunset viewing area for Uluru. Each coach party has a small catering team, who offer sparkling wine, other wines, soft drinks & water. Nibbles are laid out with plates to serve yourself buffet style. We had cheese, crackers, red peppers (capsicum in Australia), carrot sticks, and dips. After the sunset, we proceeded to the BBQ meal area via coach. This is very close to Uluru itself. We had tables of 10 people, a wonderful mix of different countries and travelling styles. Great food, wine, beers, water, tea & coffee. You could have steak, kangaroo, prawns, chicken, pasta, mixed veg, salad, dressings, and bread rolls. Dessert was delicious. We were very fortunate as there was a star talk on this excursion & the night sky was so clear. A very well-informed gentleman gave the talk using a laser pointer. It is very interesting for me, as I live in the Northern Hemisphere.
