Almost 14km long around the city wall. Cycling on the city wall is a nostalgic experience not to be missed. You have an option to choose a 20 minutes intro or a 4 hours ride.
Bell and Drum Tower used to be a time piece for the city but now its a monument and a perfect vantage point of the entire city.
Touristic atmosphere and a foodie trail of the Muslim culture. Bustling and vibrant. Although the once majestic Great Mosque with delicate motifs is looking tired and in great need of loving care to restore its former glory.
Our guide Ms Sunny synonymous to her name is certainly energetic and warm. Her knowledge of the Silk Road is impeccable. It’s an eye opener for us.
Thank you for a wonderful trip Sunny.
Sunday is the best tour guide we had during our 14 days and 18 individual tours in China. She's an excellent tour guide and speaks english very well. If you're in Xi'an, she's the tour guide you want. She arranged a wonderful day for us. The food places she took us to were excellent. Do This Tour - work with Sunday to arrange the best use of your time and you won't be disappointed. Definitely do the Xi'an Wall Bike Ride.
OK, I'm going to give you the real deal regarding your trip to Xi'an and China. If English is your primary language and you're going to Xi'an, then the only Tour Guide you want is Sunday, yes her name is Sunday, through Catherine Lu Tours Xi'an. Many people provide reviews and say their guide spoke english well, however that's not exactly true - most can speak english somewhat, it's a little hard to understand and it's not conversational english, so if you ask a question, they really don't understand, they have a script to tell and they can't deviate from the script. And the tour guides have a tendency to repeat themselves over and over again because they feel they need to say something but they don't have anymore facts or good information to tell you. However Sunday has been to the US for an extended stay and takes American Universities Professors/Students to Western China along the Silk Road, so her command of the english language is outstanding and she understands everything you ask her. Additionally, she knows many more facts than other tour guides and doesn't repeat herself. If you're interested, and me and my daughter wanted to learn as much as possible, in addition to telling you about the sites you visit, Sunday will talk to you about old China and new China the entire time you're in the van traveling from site to site. When we were done with Sunday's tour both me and my daughter felt like we had a wonderful understanding of Xi'an (which was my favorite city until we arrived in amazing Shanghai). Me and my daughter were in China touring for 12 days and went to 5 cities. I booked a total of 15 tours via Trip Advisor/Viator for our time in China and Sunday was the best tour guide we had over the entire trip. Don't get me wrong, we had some other very good tour guides like "River" in Chengdu (Lost Plate Food Tours), but that was an evening tour by Tuk Tuk and he has a day job so he only tours at night (He went to college in Singapore and lived in that english speaking nation for 9 years), and Sunday's english is just as good if not better. In addition, she goes the extra mile to take great care of you. My daughter is a vegetarian and I'm not, so on the way to lunch Sunday had the driver pull over, ran across a busy street to get my daughter a vegetarian burger (which was delicious - no not like an American burger - this is made with sautéed vegetables on delicious flat bread) and while I was watching my daughter eat her burger in the van on our way to lunch, I mentioned to my daughter I had seen the Xi'an Burger the night before at a restaurant we went to but with sliced beef. Next thing I know the van is stopping again and she's off to get me a beef burger and I didn't even know she could hear me. Next thing I know I'm eating a hot beef burger, yes.... on "the way to lunch"!!! Then at lunch she wanted us to try different foods so she ordered like 3 entrees each for my daughter (vegetarian) and myself (with pork and beef) - there was enough food on the table to feed 8+ people and it was just the 3 of us. The restaurant she selected wasn't just a side street place (nothing against them we had some great meals at local places) but this was one of the nicest restaurants we went into during our entire stay in China.... I wish I would have selected this tour for both our days in Xi'an, then I would have had Sunday take us to the Terracotta Warriors and the other places we went with a different Tour Guide. After the tour she friended my daughter on WeChat (China's Text Messaging App) and sent us pictures she took of us during our trip together. She also gave us her contact info and said that if we need an interpreter during the remainder of our trip in China to just give her a call and she'll talk to whoever via the phone on our behalf. The next morning when we left Xi'an, she was texting us information about our flight and how to navigate our way through the airport in order to get our flight to Guilin. Both my daughter and myself look forward to returning to China within the next few years to take Sunday's tour along the Silk Road..... Sunday, thank you for the wonderful insight into your city of Xi'an and we look forward to seeing you in the future. Gary
