  • The Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses, Xi'an, Shaanxi, China
    Meet your private guide in the lobby of your downtown Xi'an hotel around 0830 and transfer by air-conditioned private car out of the city to Lintong District. Here, you will visit the Terracotta Army Museum accompanied by your private guide who will explain the whole history of the site. The museum is located over a large area nearby to where the first terracotta remains were discovered in 1974 . The museum contains many artifacts from the burial site of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China, who died in the late Third Century BCE. The main archaeological site, known as Pit 1, contains over 6,000 terracotta figures of soldiers varying in height depending upon their ranks. You will also see terracotta cavalry horses, chariots and many other small artifacts. Part of your museum visit will include the opportunity to fashion your own terracotta warrior from clay!

  • Xi'an City Wall (Chengqiang), Xi'an, Shaanxi, China
    After your visit to the Terracotta Army, enjoy lunch at "Da Qin Xiao Yan," a restaurant with a special Qin culture theme, before returning to Xi'an city. On arrival back in Xi'an, you will visit the ancient Ming Dynasty City Walls built over 600 years ago. The Xi'an city walls are the best preserved in the whole of China and a fine example of Ming Dynasty fortifications. The wall is rectangular with a total length of 8.7 miles (14 kilometers) with watchtowers, corner towers, gate towers and parapet walls. The wall is 39 feet (12 meters) tall affording a good view of the surrounding city and there is a walkway all the way around up to 46 feet (14 meters) wide in places. For the energetic, a walk completely around the walls would take about 4 hours. After coming down from the Xi'an City Wall, you will be transferred back to your hotel where your tour ends.

I recently completed a China tour with Wendy Wu tours that included a trip to Xian. We caught a flight from Beijing and upon arrival visited the ancient walls followed by a traditional dumpling dinner. After dinner we were treated to a performance based on the history of the area and a night tour of the city. Finally after an action packed day we made it to our hotel where the room was opulent to say the least, a full size bathtub and comfortable bed made for a relaxing night stay. The next morning we headed to see some terracotta warriors being made and then off to see the real thing. I was rather emotional upon visiting the excavation site as it was a major tick off my bucket list. After lunch at the museum we caught the bullet train to Chengdu. My only regret on this tour of Xian is that it wasn’t longer, I feel this area has a lot more to offer that I would like to explore. Our amazing national tour guide Britney was a wealth of knowledge on the history of what is her home Provence. Britney is by far the best tour guide I have ever had and she made our trip interesting, fun and safe. I would highly recommend any of the Wendy Wu tours if this trip is the standard.

George was our tour guided for our amazing 25 day Grand Tour of China stattin on 18 October 2019. He was exceptionally well organised and the whole trip ran very smoothly. His knowledge of China is excellentt and the local guides he engaged for our tour were excellent. George acted very quickly when one of our group became ill and arranged for transfer and admission to hispital. George went abova and betond what we expeced of a tour guide, and stayed with our tour member and ensured he received expert medical attention. George also ensured that our great local guide in Shanghai stayed with the group and she went above and beyond what we expected of a local guide. The whole tour was amazing, we were very lucky to have had such a friendly group on our tour. We thoroughly recommend Wendy Wu Tours and believe we have made a lifelong friend of George.
