Alta’s stable, cold climate and easy access to the Finnmark Mountain Plateau has made Alta a dogsledding hotspot in Europe. Mushers from all over Norway and Europe have settled here to be able to dedicate as much of their time as they can to dogsledding. Our family joined their ranks over three decades ago. We have spent the years racing and learning about dogsledding. This knowledge is the foundation of the dogsledding trips that we offer our guests. We will take you to the tracks along the Alta River and the path where Europe’s best mushers race towards the finish line for the famous Finnmarksløpet. You don’t get much closer to Norway’s dogsledding culture than this. The frozen landscape is like nothing you’ll ever see, glittering in the sunlight and bathed in shades of blue, pink and purple during the light of the polar night. Feel the kiss of the cold on your cheeks and listen to the silence of the vast Arctic nature.

  • Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
  • The minimum age to participate in this experience is 5 years old. The minimum age for driving solo is 16 years old. 5 - 12-year-old children are required to sit between an adult's legs on the sled. 13 - 15-year-old children are allowed to sit independently on the sled.
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

The welcome we received from the staff and dogs was outstanding. The joy with which everyone we spoke to shared their experiences was inspiring. The love the dogs have for what they do was heart-warming and the film about the Finnmarksløpet emotional - good luck for this year. We even had snow to accompany the wonderful sled ride. Thank you .

Abgeholt wurden wir pünktlich vor dem Tourismus Info Zentrum, vom Inhaber persönlich. Nach einer ca. 10 minütigen Fahrt kamen wir an und wurden freundlich begrüßt von unserem Scout. Sie erzählte uns erst etwas über die Lodge und was uns erwartet. Danach wurden wir eingekleidet mit Skioverall, Stiefeln etc. Dann ging es zu den Hunden, die uns schon lautstark begrüßten und ganz heiß waren zu laufen. Nach der Schlitteneinweisung ging es los. Insgesamt waren wir eine kleine Gruppe von 10 Personen. Wir sind eine Stunde durch die schöne Landschaft gefahren und nach der Hälfte der Strecke war ein Fahrerwechsel möglich. Unser Scout machte ein paar Fotos von. Die Tour war wunderschön! Nach der Fahrt ging es in ein Zelt zum Aufwärmen bei Tee/Kaffee und man konnte noch viele Fragen stellen. Dann ging es zu den Hunden, die man streicheln konnte, wenn sie es wollten. Die Zeit war sehr kurzweilig und es machte viel Spaß. Wir können diese Tour absolut weiterempfehlen! 5 von 5 Sternen ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
