As soon as we found a good spot, we will make a campfire, serve a local light meal and hot drinks. We choose Northern Norway travel based on the size of the group, photos, and feedback that they had on Tripadvisor. We had to travel to Skibotn where we had a chance to see Aurora for a couple of minutes and take some photos. The guide took pictures of us and for each picture, she said it was perfect. We received the photos on next day and they weren't perfect - there were a few photos, some of them blurry, some of them you cannot distinguish who is in the picture, and most of them with missing aurora... Yes, to see an aurora and take a picture with it is not sure, but I saw that on the same day, other agencies passed the border with Finland where they had more chance and time to see the aurora and to take really perfect photos.

Lovely drive out on our first night in Tromso. We’d never seen the lights before but we learnt that generally they are not green to the naked eye, the effect of light pollution, cloud cover and leave the city lights of Tromso for the best chance of seeing, but we were lucky!! We didn’t need to drive far out on this occasion - and hour or so. We just pulled over on the side of the road and Max our guide lit a fire. The lights came and went then came again. It was great to spot and photograph them with our phones. We were so excited. Max was lovely, we were a multi-lingual group from around the world and his stories were fun to listen to. We had lovely soup, biscuits and hot chocolate, chatting around the fire. Our chase was great intro to the lights and a couple of days later, when the solar activity was high, we saw the lights again - got the local bus to a dark part of the island for an amazing show without cloud. It’s pure luck and the alignment of conditions. Book the trip, and good luck!
