A very friendly taxi driver picked us up from our hotel and was very good at pointing out interesting things on the way to the jungle buggies but that’s about where the positives end. He was very nice and friendly and was refreshing to see.
NO INSURANCE (OR OPTION)
We got to the buggies around 9am and after signing your bank account away we were ready to go. You sign a waiver saying YOU are responsible for ALL damage and there’s no option to buy optional insurance at all which is fine. I wasn’t planning on crashing or going all hell for leather but hey ho.
WATCH OUT FOR LAPS
We thought we were doing 3 laps, turns out when you book a package you only get 2 but that’s not clear online unlike it is in their books.
SLOWWWWW
After throwing on a helmet and using the lockers provided, we watched a 30 second video on how to not drive the buggies of people going extremely quickly and then hopped in and away we went, no checks on seatbelts, no checks on the buggies prior damage, no checks on how to use the machines.
We did one lap of this 10m long roundabout ish style paved thing and then went to the track. At this point I assumed we’d be doing a little intro and then allowed to go free but no, we were driven around the ‘5km’ track at about 10-15kmh for two laps. The fastest we went was about 30kph when we had to stop for a chicken on the track. There are overtaking lanes which I assume are only for show and the whole thing was a complete bore tbh. We had done this before in Europe and Africa and was far more entertaining and exhilarating.
We got out the buggies at 10am and was offered lunch and told our lift wasn’t going to be picking us up to go rafting until 1pm! We’ll obviously there was an abundance of no activities to do so we asked if we could have a lift to the nearby elephant ‘sanctuary’ (that’s for a different review’ which they kindly did for us.
RAFTING GOT CANCELLED
Unfortunately due to the rain the rafting was cancelled (which is apparently common so be aware of this particularly in the weeks approaching & rainy seasons) and they refunded 1/2 of the monies, despite me expressing my disappointment in the buggies.
Bali is a lovely place full of wonderful activities but unfortunately this was just not worth the monies. We put a lot of the £165 value on the rafting and to pay £82.50 to do some slow drive around a track for 20 mins just isn’t worth the time whilst you are here.
