Zona Arqueologica de Monte Alban, Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico Surely one of the most beautiful pre-Hispanic site in Mexico, the superb ruins of Monte Alban overlook the Oaxaca Valley, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. The temples are impressive, with a little air of Machu Picchu. Former capital of the Zapotecos, then occupied by the Mixtècos until shortly before the arrival of the Spanish. My husband and I took a half day guided tour with Lescas Co Tours of Monte Alban this morning. It was the best guided tour we ever have taken, entirely due to our Guide, Miguel. His English was better than mine, his knowledge of Monte Alban all encompassing, his humour and ability to bring life to this ancient civilization was unparalleled. So if you think I am a fan, definitely. We learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thank you Miguel!

They simply never showed up. And only once answered a call where they told me they didn't know about the tour at all. Either they or Viator screwed up

This is my third visit to Oaxaca and the third time we hired the excellent services of GO (Guide Oaxaca). The previous visits were just couples. This visit we were a group of 14. Rosario & Alberto beautifully accommodated our large group and are the perfect guides to experience the best of the best while in Oaxaca. They picked us up from the airport and dropped us off in the center of downtown Oaxaca (El Centro) to our beautiful three level home rental. We wanted a dinner in the house and Rosario hooked us up with an amazing local chef!
They are super flexible and more than accommodating to what YOU want to do, see, taste and experience! They actually anticipate your needs and and pay attention to the smallest details. They customized a special Nacho Libre tour for seven of us and it was Fantastic! Most of the movie was filmed in Oaxaca. They gave each of us Luchadora masks and souvenirs too. All their tours are excellent! I have to mention that Rosario is passionate and enthusiastic about her hometown Oaxaca. She is always researching and improving her tours to provide her clients with the best possible experience. She recently found a “Maestro Mezcaleria “ off the usual path. Truly the best of the best Mezcal we’ve had. She also has a heart for the local artisans and their unique products & services.
They also provided us safe and comfortable transportation to the Pacific Coast of Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido. Yes, you can’t fly and get their faster but the drive is beautiful. You go from city to jungle to tropical beach paradise in the day long road trip. We stopped at a mountain side village for a delicious breakfast at the halfway point. The locals sell handmade wool sweaters, hats & scarves. We stopped along the road and bought fresh coconuts too!
All in all, GO is the best way to go when visiting Oaxaca! Can’t wait for my fourth visit next year.
