Definitely a trek to remember! We were picked up in a 4*4 from our muscat hotel by the tour operator merc tours, our guide was called Khalifa and he was a very informative and knowledgable guide who could converse well in english. The trip to the coast was about 1.5 hours each.
We did everything that the tour description said we would do and Khalifa went out of his way to show us the interesting places by the coast.
The main bit was the hike, where we had to find the wadi/oasis so we were droped off by our guide at the start and told to just find the main wadi which was on the other side of the mountain. It was quite a long trek (a 45 mins walk at the very least) and there was a lot of walking about through rock paths so its essential that you wear walking boots/trainers, good grip is essential!
Because we went in mid-september it was not busy so we took our time. Was told that in the main tourist season it can be a popular place to visit. By midday though it was boiling hot! It was nice to finally reach the wadi which was beautiful, we didn't swim so we didnt go any further.
Some of the views whilst we were walking were absolutely amazing and it is so different to anything else that we did in Oman. There were waterfalls and pools that we encountered which made the place into a sort of paradise. It was worth the trip for the hike alone.
After the hike and some dinner at a local restaurant, we went to other places such as the bimmah sinkhole and fins beach where our guide let us explore and take the all the time we needed.
Overall it was a fantastic trip and I would recommend to all visiting Oman especially to those who want to explore, this place is definitely quite special.
Hats off to our guide who helped make the experience memorable and enjoyable.
