    The site of one of the oldest souqs in the country, this extensive marketplace is dedicated mostly to fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, all of which are housed in separate blocks behind the great, crenellated piece of city wall that overlooks the wadi. Part of the souq (nearest the fort) is dedicated to handicrafts and caters specifically to the passing tourist trade.

  • Nizwa Fort Oman, Nizwa, Oman
    Nizwa Fort — the most attended monument of Oman. The fort was built almost 370 years ago and it’s based on the stream of water underneath. Surely, it’s one of the best castles of that period worth seeing. Then we’ll make a visit to Nizwa Souq. At the market you can buy traditional knives, pots and other unique items.

  • Birkat Al Mouz Ruins, Nizwa, Oman
    Here you’ll see how simple Omani people lived before. Also, you’ll have a chance to see Aflaj irrigation systems that are in a list of UNESCO World heritage. On our way to Wadi Al Madreen we’ll enjoy the exotic landscapes and oases of this place.

  • Jebel Akhdar, Nizwa, Oman
    Wadi Bani Habib is a wonderful place to explore, especially if you are like me: curious and looking for something new. Here, atop Jebal Akhdar, you will discover the recently abandoned village of Habib, active walnut orchards, and an unused path all to yourself.

A great day out ! Spectacular scenery and a wonderful way to see more of Muscat and the surrounding areas! Nizwa Fort and souk were an added bonus and well worth the visit. Couldn’t believe the mountains and the road we climbed - unbelievable ! Lunch was provided and was reasonable. Our guide was great and the car was first class. We also wanted to visit Anantara Resort which our guide sorted for us and was also amazing. A longish day but well worth it.
