This is an adventure like no other, paddling one of New Zealand’s most spectacular mountain rivers in our fun, inflatable packrafts. Start your action packed day with a scenic shuttle drive beneath the towering mountains, glaciers and waterfalls of the Matukituki Valley. After refreshments its gear-on, safety brief and paddle tuition before heading down-river on our stable and strong packrafts. Ride the wave trains, paddle into calm eddies and float with the river flow. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the river bank and play in turquoise swimming holes as you continue paddling down river. By the time the day is done your guide will have you paddling like a pro. You'll be accompanied by one of our friendly 'shuttle support' dogs on the drive, please let us know if this might be an issue for you and we can arrange otherwise.

    Take the shuttle deep into the towering mountains with a stop on the way for a short walk to Wishbone Falls. After a short break it's straight into the wetsuit to packraft down the river with views of glaciers, ancient beech forest and the unique wildlife of the braided riverbed.

What a beautiful day to go rafting! We were extremely fortunate to be the only people on today's packraft adventure when Brent and James picked us up in downtown Wanaka. An hour or so driving through fabulous scenery and quintessential Kiwi farms found us at our launching site. After morning tea and fitted with wet suits, helmets and life jackets, Brent gave us the low down on how to paddle and then we we were off! We were in one packraft, Brent was in the other one. We had the river all to ourselves as Brent helped us navigate the (very chilled) rapids while giving us a great insight into the mountains and glaciers we could see and the way the valleys were formed. Picnic lunch was perfect and then further paddling / drifting / serenity admiring until we met James and the van at the end. A brilliant day! Thanks so much, Melissa and Andy

Brent and Sue were really awesome hosts! We are really grateful that they went all out to make our trip most enjoyable and safe. Along the drive up to our starting point along Matukituki River, we had the opportunity to do a little bit of sight-seeing, and see Wanaka's beautiful waterfalls. Sue prepared a lovely breakfast for us with the most delicious banana bread and spread! Brent then briefed us and brought us on our Packraft journey down the river where we had fun rowing and tackling rapids together. It was lovely just being able to chat with them, and get to know them better too. This was one of the best experiences of our trip! :)

Fantastic day trip on packrafts down the Matukituki River. Brent and Sue were wonderful hosts and guides and provided a delicious morning tea and picnic lunch. This is one of the best daytrips in Wanaka.
