To get your reserved pre-booked tickets with no stress and gain the sits available closest to the Pope, be supported by an expert local guide and an audio device, and be perfectly on time in this busy and requested great event, we recommend choosing this tour. The Audience may be celebrated in the majestic venue of St. Peter’s Square or in the dedicated Nervi Hall, according to Vatican schedule. If in St. Peter's Square, you will also walk with us close to the monumental Castel Sant'Angelo and along Via della Conciliazione, in order to reach St. Peter's in the background and pass the security check-points to the Vatican City. Our guide will tell you the story and the secrets of the Vatican, suggest where to sit and make your arrival works smoothly despite crowds. Then, at the end of the Audience (about 11:30/11:45 am), you will meet our guide again in Via della Conciliazione 48, to get refreshed with a complimentary bottle of water and to return the audio device. Remember that Papal Audience tickets are free but very much in demand and that making your own arrival at this event could be very hard. We went with Grayline to have an expert get us into the Vatican for the Wednesday Papal Audience on time and positioned well. Our guide was nonchalant as we watched hundreds of people pass us by and get into the security line as he waited until 7:30 to get in line. As it turns out, there is no special line for tour groups to get in and all of those people were simply ahead of us now. We didn’t pass completely through security until after the Pope arrived. It was now chaos - no special seating and no further help from our guide. There was no value added by this service. You can do it yourself. Just get your free ticket from the Vatican, get there early, get in line with everyone else and you’ll have no problem getting in and getting a seat.

I didn’t want to find my way into the square by myself so booked this… as tickets are free all this really did was give us a ticket and a bit of history as we waited in an hour and 1/2 line to get in to the square on our own once inside and told to head to the chairs… our group thought we were going to get help to get seated but it was on your own once you passed security…so not sure this was worth it but it appears lots of people book this way…. Barely made it in to get to see the pope in his popemobile.
