Our party of 4 were picked up in a large (10? passenger) comfortable van at the pier just after our Windstar cruise. As our flight back to LA was not until 11PM, we had to fill 12 hours and didn't want to hang out in a hotel. Boy, this sure was the RIGHT decision. During our day together we SAW Tahiti. Getting out of Papeete and circumnavigating the island afforded us to see things we otherwise would have missed...black sand beaches, amazing waterfalls, architectual ruins, sacred sites, blow holes, flora and fauna...there is more to Tahiti than Papeete. Our hosts filled the day with great history, stories and legends. While fluent in multiple languages, we found their English to be quite good (much better than our French or Russian!) and they were just very pleasant to be around. We are grateful that we took this tour and spent the day with Max and Natalia and felt the experience was informative and a heck of a lot of fun. While Papeete is a great city to walk around, we are certainly happy that we chose to see Tahiti. What a great way to end a fabulous overall trip!
