  • Archaeological Site Mycenae, Mycenae, Greece
    Next we come to the imposing remains of Ancient Mycenae, one of the most important sites in the development of Ancient Greece. Not only central to the ‘Mycenaean period, from 1600 to 1100 BC which formed the first major widespread civilization in Europe at the time, but also home to the palace of the legendary Agamemnon, leader of the Greeks during the Trojan War. Passing through the 20-meter wide city walls, entering through the gigantic lion's gate and exploring Agamemnon’s throne room and associated Toombs of the site with their huge construction is an amazing experience. Excavations of its various Toombs to date have uncovered over 15Kg of gold and other famous & priceless treasures, many of which you will see in its modern on-site museum including Agamemnon's death mask.

This was by far one of the best tours we have ever taken. Yannas our driver, and Thenia Iliou our Licensed tourist guide were absolutely the best. We were picked up at 7:30 a.m. and spent a 12 hour day with stops to all the highlights, with Thenia providing comprehensive historical and geographical information (honestly we thought she was a professor) about all the Peloponnese sites. Yannas stopped wherever we wanted to take photos and our Authentic Greek lunch in Nafplio was marvellous! We would highly recommend this tour and Warm Peguin tours to anyone visiting Athens and looking for the best tours of the Peloponnese and other mainland tours. We will be using them again next visit to Athens.

We recently had a wonderful tour with Mario. He made our tour to ancient sites in Greece terrific. Our timing was always ahead of the big buses. Mario was a great driver and extremely knowledgeable of the sites and history itself. Even though he is not an official guide of the sites he gave us plenty of information that along with what we knew was just perfect. Lunch was beautiful and tasty swordfish. Just lovely. Highly recommend Mario and Warmpenguin. We will be back.

We had a fantastic trip - our driver Yannis was exactly what we wanted. He was very knowledgable and told us all about the sights and history of the areas and places we visited. He also told us about what life was like in Greece, so we got a great background as well. The beauty of doing a trip this way was that we got to do exactly what we wanted, when we wanted and for as long as we wanted. It was perfect, a great car, a great driver and fabulous locations.
