2-Day Tour: Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu by Train

Michael is the best tour guide around! We had an amazing and exciting day in the Sacred Valley, and I truly think we saw more than we paid for. The time in Aguas Calientes and of course, Machu Picchu was unbelievable. This is a site that lives up to all of the hype, and Michael’s extensive experience made it even better. We learned so much about the sites we visited as well as Peru in general. Michael is extremely knowledgeable and had an answer for every question asked. He was very professional but also funny and personable. Our driver, Nacho, was excellent. I highly recommend this tour and hope to come back in the future.

We just got back from an awesome trip to Machu Picchu and we were pleasantly delighted with the services we received from Machu Picchu Latin America. Right from our arrival to departure in Cusco - everything was very well planned. Oscar was there right outside the airport to pick us up and then drive us to Ollantaytambo next day and again drive us back to Cusco the day after. Our guide Luis was very knowledgeable & extremely patient answering all our questions. We hd opted for a private tour, and Luis adjusted our plan based on our interest. We were picked up from the hotel on Day-1 at 7am and we started the first day by seeing Lamas, Alpacas at Manos de la comunidad and then to Pisac. We learned about al seven communities around Pisac before a buffet lunch at Urubamba - with many vegetarian options. We then went to visit Inca sites in Ollantaytambo before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes. We were picked up from the train station by hotel staff & we had a great time that evening walking around the small town full of shops and restaurants everywhere. Our guide Luis was there at 7am in our hotel lobby to take us to Machu Picchu. After a 25 minutes bus ride, we reached the beautiful Inca town of Machu Picchu. We spent few hours there before hiking to Huyana Picchu at 10am. I won't recommend Huayna Picchu unless you are fit to climb those stairs and not afraid of heights. However, if you decide to hike Huayna Picchu - it's worth it. We actually climbed it while it was raining throughout and we couldn't have done it without Luis being with us on the hike. Also, many thanks to Fredi - owner of Machu Picchu Latin America - who managed everything behind the scene for us. From the very first time when we reached out to him in October 2022 for our trip in April 2023, helping us throughout the political unrest by providing regular updates and situation there. Actually, I am glad that we didn't cancel our trip and in fact it was the best time to visit with fewer than usual number of visitors. Everybody was very welcoming, professional and we had a great time!! Thank you FREDI, LUIS and OSCAR - for the memorable trip.

This tour was fantastic and met all of my expectations. Michael our guide and Juan our driver were both friendly and made you feel welcomed on the tour. On the first day I had a nice surprise as we visited a Llama and Alpaca rescue centre, they also had two Condors that were very impressive. I was not expecting this as part of the tour so it was a nice extra. The rest of the first day was exploring the sacred valley which was spectacular and enhanced by Michaels enthusiasm and vast knowledge about the history of the sacred valley and Inca culture. The next day we got to visit Machu Piccu which was incredible and again Michael wowed us with his knowledge of the settlement. As well as this the restaurant we ate in and the hotel we stayed in were of a high standard and added to the overall experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to visit Machu Piccu.
