Trippers Peru is excellent travel agency. At the beginning we were not sure to go with them to Peru (there was no review after 2019 - because of COVID) but something told me to go...
And I was right! Organization was perfect (everything on time - transport, buses, guides,...), hotel were very good (good quality, super location - especially in Cusco), guides also.
Highly recommended!
This was a fantastic experience. It requires a full day commitment for trip from Lima, but you won't be disappointed. The location is among the most remote I have been to and I have visited sites throughout Mexico and Central America for the past 20 years. I took a private trip. My guide Jesus was superb.
Worth visiting for the site, not sure if with this tour operator:
This is an amazing civilisation with over 5000 years - the oldest civilisation in America, second oldest in the world (only 300 years younger than Mesopotamia), accommodating more than 3,000 inhabitants.
There was no trace of warfare has been found at Caral: no battlements, no weapons, no mutilated bodies. It suggests it was a gentle society, built on commerce and pleasure. In one of the temples, they uncovered 32 flutes made of condor and pelican bones and 37 cornetts of deer and llama bones. One find revealed the remains of a baby, wrapped and buried with a necklace made of stone beads.
If you are in Peru, his is a must-see site!
Regarding the tour operator:
I was picked up at the hotel at 5 am by 2 men (one driver and companion of the driver).
As this was a private tour, I was on my own in the back seat, and neither the driver nor his companion interacted with me throughout the trip, unless when strictly necessary (such as toilet break at gas stations). We were stopped by the police 3 times on the way to Caral, and no explanation or interaction was ever given to me. They both spent all the trip chatting to each other in Spanish, totally ignoring me in the back of the car for 4 hours each way, probably not aware of the fact that I understood them.
When we arrived at Caral, I was appointed a dedicated site gide (she was amazing and walked me thought the whole site, explaining everything for 1,5 hours).
After the guided tour, I was allowed by the site guide to go on top of the hill for a panoramic view of the site and further pictures. I was there for about 15 min, until the driver and his companion called me back, as they were in a hurry to return to Lima.
On the way back, we stopped at a gas station for some water and a bag of crips (paid by the tour organiser) - not really a lunch!
We dropped off the driver's friend at the outskirts of Lima, and the driver dropped me off at the hotel.
In summary:
Not a pleasant tour to do on your own, 8 hours with 2 man in a car, who do not even speak to you to explain why we were stopped 3 times by the police.
There was a point I started to fear if I was in danger or not.
All went well as the site visit itself was amazing, but I would though not recommend getting to this site using this tour operator, as, besides the driving, they did nothing else, and the tour is very expensive!
