This activity includes roundtrip transfer from your hotel, apartment or home. Some locations are in areas where the access by vehicle is not permitted. Send your details in order to arrange your pickup and drop-off in a nearby place.

  • Belmond Trains, Cusco, Peru
    After hotel pickup in Cusco, take a 20-minute drive to Poroy station, where a welcome drink is offered to you before you step on the train. Once you're on board, thread your way through a sparkling interior of brass and polished wood to find your elegantly upholstered seat. During the 3-hour ascent to the Aguas Calientes, the nearest station to Machu Picchu, explore the train’s observation platform, bar car and two dining wagons, where you’ll enjoy a 3-course lunch (see a sample menu in Itinerary below). Meals below are paired with wine suggested by the sommelier. Sample lunch menu (subject to change) First course: • Wayllabamba trout with fava beans, Andean mint and airampo emulsion Main course: • Lamb cannelloni with spring greens, elderberry and potato pesto Dessert: • Organic cocoa with pineapple, olive oil, Maca toffee, Maras salt and lavender

  • Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu, Peru
    When you arrive at the Aguas Calientes station, board a shuttle bus specially reserved for Hiram Bingham passengers. Stroll through the cloud-shrouded archaeological site with a guide who leads you through the ancient city’s main streets, ceremonial shrines, solar clock and precisely carved stairways. Learn about how the Incas designed the small city to be self-contained, built with agricultural terraces that fed its residents and watered by natural springs.

    After the guided tour, walk over to Belmond Sanctuary Lodge for afternoon tea. Enjoy scones and sandwiches with tea or coffee, or try appetizers and choose from a selection of wine. Back down to Aguas Calientes and settle into your seats aboard the Hiram Bingham. Enjoy a 4-course gourmet meal (see a sample menu below). You may find yourself joining the musicians in song and dance during the return journey to Cusco. Sample dinner menu (subject to change) First course: • Amuse-bouche • Duck ham dressed with Eucalyptus leaves, jam corn and crispy chili skin Second course: • Potato and leek soup with purple kiwicha, extra virgin olive oil and toronjil lemonMain course (choice of one): • Pachamanca with an emulsion of roots, bulbs, leaves and black quinoa • Maras beef with root confit, Quillabamba peanuts and a tartar of white grape and myrtle Dessert: • Apple-custard parfait with carrots and cocoa nibs, drizzled with mandarin and ginger reduction

  • It is recommended that you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sunglasses and water
  • Minimum age to drink alcohol is 18 years
  • A maximum of 10 people per guide inside Machu Picchu according with park authority rules.
  • Big suitcases are not allowed in Hiram Bingham train. Bring a small bag or backpack for your next day clothes, if you stay in the area of Machu Picchu.
  • Big suitcases must leave in the storage of your Cusco hotel. If you need help to move your baggages, contact us for extra service.
  • Machu Picchu has implemented new visitor circuits, with three main routes with specific differences to distribute passengers in various areas. These changes are intended to improve the visitor experience and preserve the integrity of the archaeological site. The circuit with route 2 will be given as priority and if it is not available, the options of taking circuit 3B or circuit 1B will be informed so that you can confirm your decision before the tickets are issued.
This experience is non-refundable and cannot be changed for any reason. If you cancel or ask for an amendment, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

    If you are on the fence about doing this or not, just do it! It's worth every penny. We are so happy we booked the round-trip train ride to Machu Picchu. From the very start of the experience, we were given morning coffee, water, danish, danced with the Peruvian Dancers, listened to traditional Peruvian music and all with friendly servers and hosts from Belmond. Our small group (5 people) boarded a shuttle to catch the train to Machu Picchu. We meet up with 8 additional people on the train. The train is pristine and very well maintained. We all had a blast on the route to MP. We listened to a band on the train and experienced a wonderful, tasty lunch with cocktails & wine. Once we reached Machu Picchu it was magical. Our Guide (Luis) was exceptional, providing much historical facts and insights about MP. Then after about 4 hours at MP, we took the train back. Same band was on the train but played different music. We all danced and had an excellent dinner. It was a very long day beginning at 6:50am, and arrived back to our AirBnB by 11pm. Worth the price since Belmond exceeded our expectations.

    My wife and I really enjoyed this experience traveling back to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu. The cover band played great hits and were interactive with the guests, even with the staff on the train (drummer would play off the serving trays as they walked by). The dining showcased how authentic and unique Peruvian food can be. My wife is a chef and she thought the food was A+, and the hospitality (service, making sure we were enjoying ourselves) was also A+. When they found out she was a chef, they offered her to see the kitchen and meet the chef as well. We would definitely do this train ride again.
