I had literally received nothing about my tour until the day before. My email inbox was spammed with questions related to my tour and apprently the travel agency needs to deliver the ticket package to me before I leave at 3:30 am on the next day. I was not in Cusco the day before and my network was very limited but fortunately, a lady from the travel agency visited my Airbnb at 9 pm and explained my tour to me. This was the only positive point while it could and should inform travelers in advance.
The day at Machu Picchu was horrible. The tour guide who met us at the train station did not say anything, not even a "hello". We were taken to the plaza and asked to wait, which we didn't know what for. The we were taken to Machu Picchu with a Spanish-only tour guide. Later, I found out that my scheduled English-spoken tour guide would start his tour two hours later. We would have waited in the town for the English-spoken tour if we were informed, but unfortunately no one told us so.
Overall, the communication was a disaster for me. Being misled serval times by different Spanish-only tour guides was not fun at all. I ended up touring myself in Machu Picchu for the entire day after all the confusion and hassle. Absolutely no difference than booking everything by myself.
