From the center of Cusco, head toward Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca Mountain) for an amazing journey into undiscovered lands. As you get closer to the mountain, get your first sight of the colored minerals that form the hills. Marvel at typical views of the snow-capped mountain peaks of the Andes. Look out for native animals along the way. During the 3-hour hike in the painted hills of Rainbow Mountain, discover a native culture that remains intact to this day. Experience how the locals live and get the chance to speak with them. Hike through a vibrant green valley with views of the impressive Ausangate Mountain on the horizon. Your guide will explain what makes Rainbow Mountain so special. Finally, climb to a vantage point for a 360-degree view of the sacred landscape. Then transfer back to Cusco where you will be dropped off in the main square.

    La montaña de los 7 Colores (también llamado Vinicunca o simplemente ‘arcoíris’) es una de las nuevas y mejores atracciones del Perú. Ubicada a más de 100 kilómetros de la ciudad del Cusco, en una cumbre altitudinal situada a 5,200 metros sobre el nivel del mar (m.s.n.m.) Se trata de una formación montañosa teñida de varias tonalidades producto de la compleja combinación de minerales. Las laderas y la cumbre están teñidas de diversas tonos que incluyen el rojo, morado, verde, amarillo, rosado y otras variaciones. Este atractivo turístico estuvo rodeado de hielo hace no muchos años. Desde el 2016, este lugar recibe a cientos de visitantes al día convirtiéndose, junto con Machu Picchu, en uno de los lugares más visitados en Cusco-Perú. Best way to visit Rainbow Mountain is by taxi from Cusco! For 280 Soles the taxi will bring you and will wait for you to go back. If you leave around 08:30 you won’t be sharing the mountain with hundreds of tourists. (Most tours arrive the same time which makes it very busy, you’ll have to wait to be able to make you pictures). Don’t skip Red Valley, it’s a 30 minute hike from Rainbow mountain and costs 20 soles. At the top you’ll have a 360 view of Rainbow Mountain, Red Valley and surrounding mountains.

5000 meter above sea level, the hike and journey there is not among the easiest of the tourist spots in Peru, but very well among the most amazing. It is very worth the effort to get there; the sceneries are just amazing, and you will get some great photos. The colors displayed on this photo and many others vary from what you will see, it is slightly less colorful
