The 4-day trek to Machu Picchu on the Classic Inca Trail is one of the best-known and most popular treks in the world. This due to the original Inca paved roads, which keep fascinating Inca archaeological sites and the charming Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. This is one of those trips that you should not miss in life, less if you are in the magical city of Cusco. Sharing the trek in small groups is essential to get the full attention of the expert guides, it is also a good idea to hire a personal porter to help you carry the equipment during the route, so you can enjoy of the trip to the fullest.

  • A current valid passport is required on the day of travel
  • Important: Since 2000 the Inca trail has been regulated by the country of Peru. This has provided many wonderful things, like clean trails and camping sites, but it has also limited the amount of people on the trail each day. Now only 500 people are permitted on the trail every morning – this includes hikers, guides, porters and cooks.
  • It is strongly recommended to book your Inca Trail at least 5 months in advance as permits can quickly sell out. What you need to bring:
  • Original Passport, ISIC card (if you are a student and want to qualify for the discount)
  • Clothes: Walking boots, Waterproof jacket / rain poncho, Warm jacket, Hat and gloves, T-shirts, comfortable trousers
  • Other items: Sunscreen (factor 35 or higher), insect repellent, toiletries and hand sanitizer, personal medication, camera and film, torch with spare batteries
  • If you have a dietary request such as vegetarian food please let us know.

    Our trip was absolutely spectacular! From the pre-trip meeting, all the way until drop off at our hotel, Inkayani had thought of everything we needed to have an enjoyable experience. They responded promptly to emails, explained everything, provided excellent equipment, and ran on schedule. Our guide, Freddy, was awesome. He shared his expertise and life in engaging ways and made everything so much fun and very meaningful and special. Mario cooked excellent food. Our Chaskis were so kind and strong. We could not recommend this company and our guide more! Go local, go with Inkayani.

    Recently returned from a 4 day excursion to Machu Picchu with Inkayni. Had an absolutely incredible time, primarily because of our amazing guide, Freddy Torres ("Papa Freddy"). He regaled us with tales of Inkan history, facts about Peruvian flora and fauna, and helped us appreciate our deep physical and spiritual connection to Pachimama (Mother Earth). Freddy inspired and motivated our group (3 adults, 5 kids ages 11-16), and helped create spectacular memories that we will all hold on to for the rest of our lives. Chef Mario and our team of Chaskis were absolutely wonderful (you won't believe the culinary experience they can create while tent camping!), and the communication with the tour operator leading up to the trip was top-notch. Would absolutely use Inkayni again and would go anywhere with Papa Freddy!

    We had a great time, and the entire experience was awesome !! Our group had different dietary restrictions though the chef Mario and team were very accommodating to customize to our needs and feed us very well with a balanced meals and snacks all the days with great care. Our guide Paul Cano was very knowledgeable, he was absolutely amazing with his humorous touch and wonderful stories that made the hike more enjoyable! along with him assistant guide Lishet was very resourceful, courteous, both of them made sure that we all complete the hike without incident, they were there all the time to help us succeed the challenge hike by providing all the needs. In summary entire crew including the numerous porters were awesome by taking care of us by providing shelter, serving 4 course meals all the time and other needs. We had a wonderful time, thanks so much for the Inka Magic!!
